i just bought a 2009 g37 sedan. So far, its awesome. For a car with base price of around $34,000, i can say, for the most part, it feels like my aunts bmw 650. The transmission picks up nice, and the car has MORE than enough power. One thing i've noticed is that, when the cars AT shifts down, its a little rough in DS. But, this posts is to ask, is there a particular brand of gas that will help my G37 run to its full potential. I dont mean, plus or regular, etc. i mean an actual brand, chevron, shell, 76..and has anyone messed with 100 octane racing fuel?

I have G35's and have used BP (Amoco) gas since birth with no issues.

Regardless of brand, below are some of my gassy tips:

Go to newer stations, they have better filtration systems.

Go to stations that are very busy, they have better turn over - fresher gas.

Stay away from Mom & Pop type stations, stay with the major brands.

Do not fillup if there is a tanker off loading. This stirs up the gas and any contaminates.

(These opinions are mine based on talking to friends that own a station and friends that drive gas tankers and from bad experience with Mom & Pop station.)

Congrats!!!!!

Thanks, but the weird thing is, i put 91 octane from chevron and the G-ride seemed to lag a little. Im think about filling it up with 91 and throwing in some octane booster, good idea? but so far, i've had my G37 sedan, moonlight white, since sunday, and i've easliy smashed BMW no problem. Today i saw some guy in an 09 bmw 335i and couldnt help but laugh at him ...Poor poor guy, shoulda got a G37. its handling, HANDLES! cant wait for next week to take it up to big bear! Merry christmas everyone.

Hmmm...if I remember correctly, I thought someone mentioned that an octane booster was definitley not recommended.

And you got a wayyyy hotter car then the BMW... probably not a 335 that you smashed tho... they are pretty quick nonetheless... but then again so are SRT4's

Hopefully you did this at the track??

Merry Christmas back at ya!

I've never gotten excited about the gas I burn beyond getting the correct octane for the car. Over the 48 years I have been driving, cheap gas has worked as well as the expensive stuff. I look for the cheapest place that isn't far out of my way. For several years, that was a neighborhood bar with a couple of pumps out front. More recently, I have been buying Sinclair since they give a 5% rebate if you pay with their Master Card. (Two weeks ago, the issuing bank notified us that they will replace our Sinclair card with their own. That will be the end of the discount unless I can find something through Sinclair.)

It might be worth experimenting with different brands. If so, you should remember that the first tank after you change brands will be a mixture of the old and the new. Wait until the second tank before making a comparison.

Our all 5 Infiniti's (01, 03, 05, 07, 09) have used Costco or Sam's 91 gas and have had no issues. It save $$$ on long run too than Chevron or Mobile.

Once a year I throw in Techroline or 3M fuel system cleaner can in the gas tank...

Enjoy you new ride http://forums.g35club.org/zero...02051#

I've never had any issues with premium fuel from any major brand stations in any cars I've ever owned. I do also avoid off-brand stations at all costs.

As for blowing off 335s.. I'm not sure that a G37 could do that with 100+ octane race fuel, but brand name premium will definitely keep it running to its potential.
