Anyone else have issues with being heard when talking on a Droid or hearing the person you're talking to? Got the phone a few days ago and love it other than this particular problem, and don't know that I want to pay for a phone I can't really talk on. If anyone's run into this, is there a fix for it?

Maybe you just don't have the speaker on the right place on your ear. I used to have a problem like that with a certain phone...

That's a good point, but I've tried moving it around on both ears and it doesn't seem to change. It's happening with both my fiance's and my phones, and though the guy at Verizon cleaned the mics, sound still seems muffled. Might be the phone covers, but there have to be other people out there with Droids with phone covers.

Take the phone cover off and try?

Turn in call volume up lol

But really the only problem i had with my droid which i have had since the first day it came out is losing the battery cover. Other then that it has worked admirably. It might be the other persons phone. When talking to someone with an iphone i have noticed this.

Weird, my buddy lost the back to his Droid the other day too. Do they come off easy or something?

You could flash a hacked rom to the Droid

Make sure the firmware is updated. There was an update not TOO long ago that in the build notes, it said it improved call quality. Also check the incoming call volume.. Other than that, I'm not sure.

Edit: On my droid, I don't have a cover on the top portion, just the bottom. (I always sit it down with the screen facing up, so the use for a top cover seemed pointless.) I do have a nice screen protection film on there though! So... depending on the type of cover you have on the top, it might be putting the ear-speaker too far from your ear, making it hard to hear / muffled sounding.

Are you people seriously using the Verizon supplied firmware?

You are missing out!

I never really got into the flashing / unlocking / self-builds.

All my Verizon phones, past and present, worked as they should, so I didn't see any sense in screwing with it. I'd probably d!ck it up somehow.

Thanks for the suggestions! I am going to try the Droid forums. Will also looks for firmware update. What I'm afraid of is that if the top cover is going to be a problem, we might have to return the Droids. My fiance runs a foreign car repair shop and needs a cover on the phone to keep from completely ruining it within a month. I don't have as much wear on it working at a parts store, but it probably will get dropped... Oh well, I'll see what I can find out

My mom always presses the mute button on hers. It must bump your face when you're talking, idk.

Try keeping your hand more steady.

Ive had a droid ( 3 now actually) for more than a month. All of them have had speaker/mic problems, sounds very muffled. As well as the phones turning on/off out of the blue. I though I hated Sprint, but I hate Verizon way worse now and want my Samsung Moment back.

I don't understand why you guys/girls don't root your phone and put a custom rom on it.

It is simple to do and adds some nice features.

I've never been comfortable with hacking a phone or anything. My droid has given me no problems whatsoever and works fantastic. No need to fix something that isn't broken.

It isn't about fixing anything. It is about making it better.

Why do people upgrade their radio when the factory one works?

We all mod things that we enjoy. Phones are just another thing to enhance the performance of

True. I just never saw a need to do that. Eh, we all like different things.

The guys at the Verizon store did conversationally mention that when people "start having problems is when they hack the phones instead of going with Verizon updates". I honestly don't know enough about it to mess with it. Buuut, after using some of the different settings on the Droid forums, and still having distorted/muffled call sound, I may just turn the phone back in. The phone rocks except for that, but I really need a functional day to day phone. Thinking about Blackberry.
