Any options out there for an RB20DET intake manifold?

Discuss the RB20, RB25 and RB26 series engines.

I know that you can get the GReddy intake manifold for the RB25DET's but I have an RB20DET and I was wondering if they sell anything like the GReddy intake manifold for my RB20DET? I am sure there must be someone out there selling a custom setup?

Man, if only there was a way to find out if other people had asked this question before...like checking page 2.

long story short.

yes there used to be some companies making one. wasn't too profitable and the effectiveness has been argued to death(both domestically and abroad)

any performance shop that is worth their salt can custom one for you. its gonna cost though

i couldn't tell you if it made a huge difference on mine though. its been along time since mine was stock adn when compared to another stockl rb20 mine had better throttle response (mine also had a front mount and lightened flywheel)

I guess I should have searched! Oops... Either way I am more interested in it for the sheer fact that it removes some clutter from the engine bay and I'd rather have the throttle body on the other side because I don't like the intercooler piping routed over my valve cover, it's annoying to look at. Either way I'll have to see if I can find someone to custom make one for me. I'm assuming it can't hurt my performance any?

A poorly-designed plenum can very much hurt performance, hence why i've yet to actually use my "TopHat" plenum...the worksmaknship was so shoddy I may aswell have built it out of clay. I've since cleaned it up ALOT, but it still worries me...

I'll tell you from experience that the RB20 manifold is a lot of work. Nissan made them very complex and you have a lot of issues to work through when creating a custom one. PCV, coolant passages, bleeder, lots of vacuum connections, IACV, AAC, fuel lines, etc.. It's been a very time consuming project, and that doesn't even count the time making the manifold.

I hope to be able to report back in a couple weeks when I get a few more issues fixed. I have to take it back off and get the lower runners machined since they are somehow not flat. I also have to work on the coolant lines since I had some blowouts and overheating issues on my initial test drives.

But, it's looks amazing, sounds amazing, and will make general maintenance much easier.

Does the greddy plenum for a rb25det just mount to the lower plenum? If so, will the lower rb25det plenum mount to a rb20det?

-----

Found the answer to my own question. The greddy unit does not mount to the lower intake plenum and therefore the rb25det lower plenum will not mount to the rb20det. Oh well.

Ok new people who haven't looked it up yet. The RB25 flang is diffrent than the RB20 flang. And lest say you do make it work the port size on the RB25 is alot bigger than the RB20. I can tell you this tho, after I got my manifold installed and redynoed my car my power band moved up 200rpm from before. It's kinda hard to tell if thats just the FMIC or what. My previous dynos were on the stock intercooler and intakemanifold.

i can help you out if you like. my rb20 plenums are smaller than the rb25 ones for the reason mentioned above, port sizes.

plenums and inlet manifolds is all i make, unlike other fabricators out there. this is solely why i concentrate on them as there is not one dedicated person who does this and no-one spends the time in r&d to get them right.

only thing is i am in Australia and shipping is the only drawback.

with my flow bench nearly finished so more testing is around the corner, but i currently use a local machine shop.

feel free to email me for pics and prices. rb20/25 available
