I have an 89' Maxima SE w/250K, startin' to smoke on startup... So it's time to replace this excellent car...

This is for the wife that droive a Versa, and a Sentra yesterday... I wasn't all that excited with either one... I'd rather have a car that can get out of it's own way...

I hate buying "New" cars... Depreciation make me feel sick...

The rift between the Altima and Maxima is pretty big. The Max is just so much nicer, has cleaner fit and finish, and is a lot more comfortable. I'd definitely take the Max over the Altima. Definitely worth the price difference for me.

My dad has an '04 that I drive often. It's nearly identical to that '06 except color. It's hard to find anything not to like about it.

I would go for the Maxima(260HP) if you want the most power out of the 2 cars you listed. The 2006 maxima does not look as hot as the newer ones(but it is just a new grill) and the Altima SL will not get out of its way do to it being a puny little 4 cly with no power added by Nissan do to it being a Gas saver budget Altima. The V6 SE Altima has 250HP in it.

IF you get an Altima go for an 03-04 Altima SE-R... Those are the sex and have 260HP(Basically same as the Maximas but they look sexier and do not look like your and old man inside) Not to mention these looks soo hot when they are dropped with a body kit.
