Any one tried fitting an K&N heat sheild on a Injen intake? I am talking about the 2.5L Altima Coupe. The heat shield for Injen just does not seem to protect from the summer heat at all.... K&N is selling the shield for hundred something... Part #07691

Does the K&N heatshield actually help? I'm sort of hesitant to buy an intake without some kind of heat protection.

Why do you say that?

I like how it diverts the outside air directly into to the filter.

And it seems to block some direct heat from coming off the engine. Id say its worth it.

It also makes your engine bay look hot!!!!!!!!!!!

That is not the purpose of the heat shield. :slap: It was never designed to protect the filter from the heat of the summer air but rather protect it from the heat generated by the motor/transmission when at a stand still and divert the flow of on coming air towards the filter when moving. :yesnod

Oh and welcome to NICO! :)

having a heat shield is very important, a heat soaked intake will make you lose power, so in that case you just shelled out X amount of dollars for an intake that will give u -5hp... and who wants that?

try to fabricate your own heatshield, if k&n doesnt fit!

Not sure if I should do that or rims, next. Leaning towards intake/shield because it'll be significantly cheaper. Maybe rims next spring.
