for the love of god this must be the most frustrating thing ever. i rented the dbl flare tool from murrays and i get like 1 in 5 flared properly. the alwasy go off the side and push through the wall or break or just leak. does anyone have any secrets for this? maybe using the 4.75mm adapter in the 5mm hole or something?? im soooo frustrated.

is it possible to rent one of these somewhere? it looks so much easier: http://www.eastwoodco.com/shop...14790

It sounds like you're over tightening, if you're breaking and piercing the lines. I've over tightened the old flaring tools too, and have had a line leak. It just gets crushed, and doen't seat well against it's mating surface. You shouldn't have to apply that much force though. The hydraulic flaring tools are sweet though, that's what I use now. That one's a bit too expensive however.

hmmm, good advice on over tightening. the flaring head always seems to push down through the side wall of the bubble part of the flare. maybe my lines just arent straight enough going through the holder.

what brand tool are u using thats cheaper? do you think i could take my lines to brake shops would have the hydraulic tool? the reason im redoing them right now is because they leak from the first time. and i still cant get them right.

I'll check the brand of the hydraulic flaring kit tomorrow. Maybe the tool you're using from murray's is just a piece of shat, and the flaring head won't sit straight on the threaded rod so it goes off to the side? What exactly are you doing/where do they leak?

using a z32 master cylinder with 1 front brake exit. so i had to make a tee off the front line. i made the flares a while ago on this project car. just now tested them and they leak, so im redoing them. i didnt work on it last night. well, to be honest, i got drunk and did one. i wonder how it turned out. hahaim gonna go giver a better try tonight. im gonna pull the lines off the car so i dont have to deal with any obstructions.
