I didn't even know about it when I got my Coupe last year.

I'm thinking about using it with a Timer. Any NICO use the Block Heater, especially in Toronto/New York areas where Winter is not as severe as in the West (Edmonton, etc.)?

Will it help maintain it/less Wear in the Engine? Would you say it's unnecessary/waste of Electricity?

Ever since I moved to Calgary, the block heater has been my saviour! Regardless of how much electricity it uses, it's a wonderful thing to have in anything below -15 weather. I'd much prefer to have my electricity bill go up a bit than have my poor 'lil engine trying desperately to start itself and chug along for five minutes while it warms up...

...that being said, do the A/Cs in Canada come standard with block heaters? I haven't checked mine yet and I'm a tad worried 'bout it...

I believe it is standard for alitmas in canada, I know mine has one. I've never used it, I live in an apartment without access to an outside power outlet. But I know people who use a time set it for an hour or two before their morning drive and it works great.

One thing I have noticed about the VQ motor is that it heats up incredibly fast. Even living in Minnesota where the winters can be infamously cold I usually have heat within a mile at the most. This stunned me especially considering my previous vehicle with a V-8 took longer to get warm.

You figure out if you have one by popping the hood. Either it should hanging out at the bottom of your grill, or tucked in along the right side of your engine bay. All you will see is long cord.

I am pretty certain that all the Canadian models have a block heater installed. I havent had my coupe in winter yet, but mine will be plugged in all night every night.
