Hi everyone, I have the opertunity to move to New Mexico due to my work relocating. I'm curious to know what the place is like, in regards to the import scene. I don't know much about the state, except that I'll be working in Albuquerque, and probably live in the Rio Grande area. Apparently Albuquerque is becoming the hot spot for high tech companies.

I get the impression that the state is a bit old fashion. My main concern is the lack of tuning and machine shops for imports... There's not an abundance of shops here in PA, but I think I'm gonna miss what I have, after I'm out of it(although now I want nothing than to get out of this stale state) Are there a good number of salvage/junk yards?

Also, how sandy is it really? Is the state as vast and empty as I presume? Are there good twisties?(roads) How about shows?

I'd love to hear any and everything about the state(good or bad!!!)

Thanks,-Slip

im not trying to be negative but new mexico is kinda of a no mans land state like arizona. you got 2 main cities and thats it. New mexico is flat. When i visit there i see nothing but open fields everywhere.

also i guess there are 10 members on the http://www.nm240sx.org/ website. Becareful though, if you go to bars and crap. Albuquerque can be violent and dangerous....

My bro lived there years ago as one of his Air Force assignments and he mentioned it's the middle of no where, but he liked that.

I truly believe any location can have it's positive aspects and he liked the "remoteness" of where he was, but he was in an outlying area near the TX border.

What part of NM are you refrring to?

I was afraid of that. I expressed this concern to a co-worker-that it was so desolate. He said that bordering the cities is OK, but elsewhere it's wooded. But you say it's mostly fields?

Don't worry about sounding negative - I do go out to bars and such, and I'm glad that I heard this! Comparing crime rates to where I'm at now, I'm 4x as likely to have my car *stolen*... NOT cool.

But hey, thanks for the reply, 'preciate it.

The roads are actually quite fun, particularly in the south.

I was born in New Mexico, my dad was an F-15 pilot in Alamogordo in the southeastern area. We moved to GA 3 months afterward, so I don't remember anything from then.

We visited a few years back to go back to Holloman AFB/White Sands (I was literally born on the White Sands itself).

There are good mountains strewn about, and besides that a lot of flat areas with few cops.

Not that much sand except in White Sands, because the rest of it is fields. Cows, elk, etc...

Anyways, it's really not too shabby driving wise, though socially I bet it's pretty bad, from what I saw.

go to pietown when the pietown vestive goes on. Its really cool. They got **** loads of pie and underground smoked meats i meen..... barf........................................

yes my secrets out i am now eating meat. But for a good reason. My susidal thoughts were lack of my body getting natrual proteins. My brother told me(he is a nutritionist) back in the 30's people were going insane due to the lack of it.

Now that im eating meat(not like fatty steaks but bacon, and just light meat not heavy beef.) i feel much better in a way. But the problem with me eating meat is a feel tired all the time

Look up NICO member Tropical Jewel (Monique) - she's the NICO Southwest meets coordinator, and lives in NM.
