Any need to d/c battery after o2 sensor install?

After you install a new o2 sensor, should you disconnect the battery for it to work or what. for s13 (no cel on)

If you didnt have CEL on then no.

Hmm well my car's old o2 sensor was so eroded it was practically not there. When i installed the new o2 sensor, the car ran the same, still rich and backfiring when i let off the gas.

Well, then if you think disconnecting the battery will help then try it, sounds to me that the O2 sensor wasnt the bad part. Sounds to me like you have a bad maf or timing is retarded or you have a boost leak. Keep digging.

When you replace any electrical parts, you should disconnect the battery anyway before you start working on it. It's been 8-9 years since I replaced mine. Should I?
