Hi everyone this is my first post on this site. I have looked around for a good M35/M45 forum and this site looks like it has a good chance of becoming a good resource as more and more M's hit the road.

I have a Diamond Graphite M35 Sport with stone interior, Journey, and Nav...........I know, I know........I will post some pics soon. I opted not to get the technology package because I knew I would probably upgrade the subwoofer myself and I didn't think the extra cost was worth it for a couple of extra surround speakers on my seats.

These are the few mods I think I would like to do:- replace back subwoofer with better one and separate amp- add dvd play and view capability to front nav screen- thinking about adding slight spacer to rear wheels (1/4" or so)

Anyone else thinking of a few changes?

Hey Rome,

Welcome and congrats on the M! (Email Z your pics if you have trouble posting them)

There are a few mods so far listed on here and a few other sites.

Clear and tinted tailsDifferent GrillCF door pillarsA few different rims choices of course. I havnet seen any spacers yet, sounds interesting...

As for me, having my M45 for a month, im not looking to change anything, I love her just the way she is. None of the above mods really appeal to me.

Now, in a few months or so, knowing me, that probably will change....unless my cravings come at the monthly note time!!

Hi, Jay.

We kinda like to keep things in the family ... volume of posters and readers here keeps our whole forum going and well-supported. So we frown on divertions to other forums!

EDIT: For clarification, hence the reason for edits and some resulting deletions of posts from this thread.

We sorta thought about that, but decided to keep it one area (unless there is enough volume of posts to justify doing it differently.)

Given the number of 2006+ M35/45 purchasers, particularly those showing up here lately, I am sure that this forum will have more discussion on the 2006+ M anyway! And, although I am a 2003 M45 owner, this does not bother me at all ... quite the contrary, I am both glad that the new M exists and yet I like the "exclusivity" (so to speak) of the older model.

Speak to die-hard M30 owners sometime about how much they like their rare car!

Mods on an M class?? I dont see the need for many mods on this car. The few I have been in and worked/trained on I was extreamly impressed with the options the car had. I always thought heated seats were a novilty. Then during training I felt my rear getting a bit cold. At which point I realized this car had air conditioned seats!!! Now if thats not an udderly cool factory option ....well. That is one factory modded machine and I find it awesome. The gadgetry in that car hardly gives you enough time to focus on your driving. Hey theres a mod!!!! Anyway to make this car drive itself??? That would give you more time to play

BTW, Jaybird, I hope you'll consider our offer (emailed to you by szhosain).

As regards tinting the tails, I think it's a great idea. Go to http://www.stickercity.com, they have some film that works exceptionally well for this application.

If it's like earlier Infiniti systems, the hardware is simply not capable. I've read of guys wiring in an aftermarket player and using the stock screen, but the player itself is limited.

H&R spacers will work!

They make 5, 15, 20, 25mm spacers...

http://performancenissanparts....d=385

I just measured how much space there is from the face of the tire wall and the lip of the wheel well. Looks like there is only about 3/4". So I think that 15mm will be too much (especially if I want to try and get a little wider tires in the rear when it comes time for me to replace them). Unfortunately, H&R's next size down is 5mm which almost makes it not worth while to do (10mm would be perfect I think). What to do.........

Saw one, it looked really puerile.

The optional JDM are at least a little (ahem)...interesting.

I'd save the money for replacement PS2 tires when the time comes (on the optional JDM Ray's wheels?), and it will be soon enough.

Where did you get those photos? I have been trying to find a company that makes a mesh grill for the M35. I have emailed a guy named Michael Levasseur at RaceMesh.com and I also sent him a copy of that photo. He asked if it was at the latest SEMA show. But anyways his company produces wire mesh grills so maybe we could convince him to produce one for the M35. Thanks, Arnie...

I had a few questions about the ability to integrate aftermarket audio equipment. I now have a 2001 Nissan Maxima with Bose. I replaced the entire Bose system with my own equipment. Although time consuming, it was fairly straigtforward. I'm worried about getting an M45 Sport only because I have an absolute need to put my own audio system in - yes, I WON'T get an M if I can't put my own system in, it's that important to me. It seems the audio system is so integrated - not just physically but also electronically - that if I were to replace the OEM stereo, for example, it will cause an error or make something not work. Does anyone know if this is the case? Is it more likely to cause problems if the car is equipped with nav?

Tony

Welcome to NICO, guys!

Arnie, do send an e-mail to Ev_eezy to ask as well ... I do not know how often he checks the M45 forum (he owns and drives a very nice first-gen Q45).

Tony407, I suspect (without firm knowledge) that in most of the new Infiniti cars, the audio system is highly integrated into the electronics of the car and has features that need this level of integration (LCD screen, button locations on the dash, etc.).

The console area modifications (needed to install an after-market system) alone would be prohibitive, imho. What you might be able to do is extra amps and speakers added in, but most other stuff would be darn tough, imho.

I hope that this does not keep you from considering a purchase of this otherwise awesome car, but that is entirely your decision, of course! Yes, I kinda agree with you that the typical Bose installations in the cars are not the best possible audio performers, but I have learned to just live with it and put my stereo money into my home system instead!

Also, one of the M45 options is a way-better audio system (with 14 speakers, as I recall) that might be good enought to what you are looking for ... of course, your ears will tell you whether that is indeed the case or not, though!

Z
