Hi. After goggling for hours about my car I decided to join the forum and ask you guys for some assistance. I have a M35X 2008. When the car is just sitting still it has this horrible rattling noise coming from the front driver side. When I'm driving she makes no noises. This has been going on for months now and the the noise appears to be getting louder. The first dealership told me to get a oil change. Did it. Nothing. Toke it again. After sitting there for hours they came back and said it may be from my car coming from New York and the cold weather and snow up there may have damaged it underneath and there was nothing I could do. Yeah right. So toke it to next dealership. They had me change drive belts. Nothing. Toke it back. They then tell me it could be two things. Catalytic converter going bad or I could pay them $900 and let them break down my engine to see what the problem is :werd: . To me all that is BS. Does anyone know of a good mechanic in the Atlanta or surrounding areas. :ohno:

You know, it could be something as simple as a loose heat shield. I had a similar noise and the dealer service dept. just tightened it down and it has been silent for two years now. I would think that a bad catalytic converter would rattle all the time, not just when stopped.

Thank you for the advise. I'm going to find someone to take it this weekend and I will mention that to them. I'm really praying that it is something simple and minor.

Try T3 Automotive in Smyrna. They have done all of my work and are a fraction of dealer prices. Great people, too.

So funny after goggling mechanics and reading there reviews earlier I actually called them and scheduled an apt for next week. I talked to the guy on the phone. Tim I think his name was. I hope it works out. You just gave me more hope.

I asked a buddy of mine that used to live in Atlanta. His buddy suggested:

I'd give Henry at HB auto a shot. He is a friend of a friend of mine, very honest, smart, and very fair prices. I've used them with zero complaints.

Nissan has some problems with timing chain rattling earlier on on some of the Maxima's. Does the sound vary with engine rpm? Try using a piece of tubing as a stethoscope and see if you can locate where the most is coming from.

Unfortunately, no longer a Nissan or Infiniti, but continuing here at NICO!

As I recall, T3 has two locations, but I am not sure of this now ... they both should be good. I have no personal experience though ... merely remembering good experiences from people reporting from their Q45 ownership years.

Yep... I'd start with T3. It's been a while since I've driven there, but they have been in the Infiniti game since the beginning. A mechanic's stethoscope
goes a long way toward tracking something like this down...
