Does anyone know of any links with individual tuning aspects that would inevitably encompass the full tuning capability of the AEM EMS? Such as A/F R and other things?

Basically im trying to figure out what would be the best tuning setup for a specific compression, boost etc?

Like a SOHC with oversized valves , Ross 8.5 cp at .020 over and pauter rods? I know the big deciding factor here is boost and compression becaus eyou need to figure out the specific fuel to air ratio and so on. However im confused I think i need a crash course in how some of the modifiable units work and how they differ from one another. Ive never seen one b4 in person but I would just need a good manual in regards to full out tuning capability. Something most likely to encompass the EMS since i think that will be the choice of most tuners.

Well now, i'm far from an expert. There are guys here that will be able to give specific details, where as i'm just gonna touch on what i know. And what i know is that nobody can tell you what exact tuning you'll need based on a list of mods, etc. Even if they had the same setup down to the plug wires, there's still to many variables for it to be the same "tune."

Big things to concentrate on when tuning are; Detonation/knock...perhaps someone can explain the differences between the two since this is a grey area for me. Either way, a combination of adjusting your A/F and timing...higher octane also helps since it allow you to run leaner A/F's and more advanced timing, both as we know increase hp...this is why WD is always talking about methanal because it octane rating is through the roof...

I too want the AEM EMS, for 3 main reasons...I hate piggy backs (never work together right and are just lying to the cpu to get it to do what u want, also your stuck with nissans ignition map), the plug n play of course, and they're known for their great base maps. But the base map will be for a N/A setup, where your running boost you wanna start out with either really low boost and gradually tune to meet the power or develop a entirely new base map...which isn't for me...

I have a good idea on how to tune but limited experence...i can't wait to get the EMS when its released for the 95's so i can start a KA-T project without all the hassles of piggy backs...

Sorry if i went off topic, but we need a good post on tuning...so hopefully all the experenced guys will pitch in...

Yeah i kinda knew the other stuff Detonation and what not from WD we have gone through some long emails. I just need a really indepth tuning example from one of the fellow tuners here. If they use their car im cool with it I can quickly emulate and articulate most of the information that is presented as long as its not in acronym form otherwise im gonna be asking deviousKA what the hell you ment haha PLS HELP!

some info on this matter would be helpful, i know all the basic stuff like what good a/f ratios are good and how to properly retard timing but what about a/f ratios under part throttle and idle?
