I have been a diehard supporter of VW all my driving life, I have never owned anything but a VW. But recently I stumbled upon a great deal on a 99 Infinity Q45 with 43k miles which I would want to have as the car for the wife and road trips.

I was wondering if you guys could help me find out about any known problems the car may have, ie bad brakes, coil packs etc. Its a lot of money for a used car thats almost 5 years old so I wanna make sure my money is well spent. I'm planning to take it to an Infinity service dealer and have it thoroughly checked out but not all problems can be seen straight away.

Thanks for any help and dont rag on me too much for my VW obsession, I am hopefully looking forward to Infinity Ownership

:D

Hi jetta nut.

I used to own a Passat VR6.

Actually the model year and model you mentioned is one ofnthe most trouble free V8 luxury cars you can buy.

Mucxh sportier than the domestic offering more reliable as well ( albeit a bit more expensive to fix if something does go wrong)

The 99Q's have no known weak areas.

Rotors need to be turned/replaced more frequently than on an economy car biut thats the case with all cars that have really good brakes acting on large+ powerful cars.

Otehr than that they will need a certain amount of maintenace again nothing unusual compared to the rest of its class ( actually a lot less)

Thanks for the info, before I bought the vehicle I took the car to an infinity service shop (at owners expense :D ) and had it checked out. After looking at the service history I noticed that the rotors had already been turned and other parts had been replaced.

So now I'm a prowd owner of an 99 Infinity Q45 Touring and I must say that I love the car, I should have some pics pritty soon after I have it detailed.

Congratulations on your new 1999 Infiniti Q45. They are wonderful cars and there is a wealth of knowledge here to keep them in top condition.

I just spent the whole weekend cleaning and detailing the car and took it on two long trips and man I love the car, I never though that I would step away from the VAG family of vw/audi etc but man this car has made a believer out of me. I will be doing a lot of research on this site to make sure my car stays in the excellent condition its in now.

vwjetta nut, one thing you have to learn as an owner of a Q45 is that infinity is a concept, whereas Infiniti is a marque.

You are why I used a red "i" in my post above.;) __________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

That just shows my inexperience in the japanese car market and the fact that I have a long way to go :)

It is very interesting how a car manufacturer would name it self after something that is never ending, mind you the quality that the car was with with it does seem like the infiniti will last for an infinity.
