Just wondering if anyone has a ka24et with a carb instead of being fuel injected! Im going that route.

Haven't heard of anyone here with one. And frankly, I don't see why anyone would. There is a perfectly good EFI system from the factory and putting a carb in would essentially be a downgrade. Corky Bell has a write up on it in his book, Maximum Boost. It can be done, but is somewhat limited and not nearly as clean or accurate as an EFI system.

I can see where your coming from, just trying to be alittle different. I just dont see myself buying bigger cc injectors, safc, 300zx mafs, when i can just force feed the crap out of a carb. Guess Im the only one thinking about this, pics will be posted

there is a reason why technology switch from carb to injectors, while the hp/displacement raise from the advantage of newer technology.

Stay EFI. Carb is obsolete.

EFI > carbs.. by FAR.

carbs are ok for na, because its easier to tune. efi is still a better option.

Well i was going to setup a pass through carb setup on my old 79 Rex with a turbo. it works ok, not very weather friendly, and can be tuned to run with a decent amount of boost. but for a car that already has a good EFI system its crazy to go back to carb in a FI setup. now if you wanted a crazy NA build with carbs, i could see that.

side drafts alone are not for the inexperienced.

side drafts with forced induction is just insane. tuning would be a complete nightmare for a street car. it can be done, but EFI is just sooooo much easier.

I still couldnt see doing that. Carbs are not a very accurate way of metering fuel. Fuel injectors are more precise and through the use of electronic sensors, the computer that controls the injectors can compensate maps to account for the changing environment. And do it quite accurately. Sidedrafts work well in racing apps, but not because they are carbs, but because of the airflow potential and response. While not widely available, you can fabricate a good ITB system with fuel injection and have the best of both worlds.

^ i agree for the most part. a standalone system spanks the crap out of a dual weber type setup..

but dual carbs vs stock injection? carbs fully tunable.. while its difficult and impercise, you can tune your engine with carbs faaar beyond what the stock system is capable of.

a really good dual carb setup is sick as hell. its not the cheapest or best, but it definately works, and can make insane power. efi is just so much easier to work with.
