I have been contacting KAIK products ( http://www.kaikproducts.com ) about a custom, billet type grille for the Q...... Thing is, they havent made one, but they would be willing to make one for the Q, basically anything we'd want..... If there is some interest, Ill email them back......

They said to me that I could design anything (by sketching or finding one similar to what we'd want), and they said that theyd give me a price quote...... A one off, custom deal might be like 300-500, but if we could buy a bunch at a time, that price could be reduced......

Any interest...... If so, would someone like to design one.......?

I assume this is only for the 94-96 and 97-01's that have the grilles already?

I really can't think of a better design than the stock grill.

I've got some sketches... Coincidentally, my sketch was... Large mesh, inset deep into a chrome surround, with a large chrome Infiniti logo "floating" in the center (stolen from an 02 Q).

I'm gonna grab a replacement grille from a part-out Q (as my chrome is a bit pitted). I want to do some "opening up" of the spaces between the chrome bars (there's a lot of unnecessary bracing blocking airflow), so I can offer up my old grille as a test mule...

Anybody tried to have bars darkened? I like it on my 97Q45T. It would work well for dark colored 1st gen I think. Too much chrome is not good for the stealth car :)

Hmmm....I wonder if it would be possible to put a 2k2+ grille in the car. If not, maybe one could be designed just like it. I really like the bigger Infiniti logo idea.

I'd retain the original grille shell, but gut it of all the bars, smooth the cuts, and rechrome, then attach some black, large gauge mesh to the back, and attach the large chrome logo to the middle.

I can't wait to play with mine, but I've got so many damn projects going....

If it's not too late, I've been working on something & will try to get it posted tonight.

In short, blacked out with the Infiniti logo floating in the middle.

Okay, so I go searching for a sample grill that's not in a black Q and I find this great example. I think it's an add-ons for the grill-less years, but if they could give it the empty/blank look (with a honeycome pattern) and then add a floating Infiniti logo, that would be nice. I would like a chrome surround to help us black car guys out, wouldn't want it to blend in too much.

OOOOOOOH...... I like......

I was thinking of a simple black grille with a raised infiniti logo...... Something like what is on the plenum or the one in between the tail lights., stuck on the grille.......

I want to make something, but i dont have any photo editing stuff right now........

I like!

I may pick up a grille at the wrecking yard and take the dremel to it and see if I can replicate that design - Shouldn't be too hard.

Don't care for the black grille, but have you seen the long-term jag in the last Car & Driver (it might have been a month back)? Jag made a stainless steel mesh grille insert for the supercharged model & C&D put it on their car. I think that would look great on the Q.

Cut out all the vertical bars, and cut a stainless mesh panel, to fit. You could leave the original logo on the top, or add a second one in the center. You could then fab a mesh grille for the lower intake area, where the horizontal painted bars are, between the fog lights.

I think this would look cool.

That is exactly what I was thinking about for my '94. A stainless steel mesh.

Now, to get a used grill off of eBay...
