After months of hearing this 'squealing' noise, the jolly/friendly mechanic 1st repaired all the fan belts (3). Then, a day alter, some water was leaking underneath. I brought it back, he changed the water pump. A day later, the 'squealing' noise came back, so back I went to him. Then he said it was the bearing in the Atl. going bad, so he changed it and one of the belts, which happened to pop. After about a week, that old noise came back. Oh, did I mention he always put me off at least a week to come back on these repairs? Yep. So, then he said it was the pulley bearing on the a/c compressor. That took three days. Next day, the noise came back, so i drove straight to his shop. I popped the hood and mentioned that the a/c was putting out ONLY hot air. We looked down, and the a/c compressor would barely turn, squealing as it did, then when the compressor stopped, so did the noise. He tells me with his big 400 pound smile, "Looks like it's the compressor after all. That's going to really cost ya." Oh yeah, somewhere in there he also changed the thermostat and a hose. It's been 7 weeks, and he has only returned one phone call, telling me he was still trying to find either a rebuilt, a junker or a new a/c compressor. Apart from him giving me the brush off, he still hasn't called back. He knows I'm a disabled Veteran and cannot do the work myself. The closest Dealer is almost 40 miles away in Fort Worth. Has anyone any ideas as to price for a J30t repair like this, or should I take the man to Small Claims Court for not fixing the 'major problem' as I feel it was all along. All of the other repairs were just leading up to this BIG one. HELP!!!
