You can replace the idler pulley bearings fairly cheap. Napa should have some.

check your belts, if they're fine then its your idler pulleys. you will need to take them out and have the bearings pressed back in.

go to http://www.vxb.com and search for bearing #6301RS and those are the bearings that are used on Nissan idlers

You need 6 bearings on the VH41DE as two are pulleys are double bearings. If the belts are not less than a year old, replace them also. But the best grade of bearing, not the lower ones and don't buy Chinese sourced ones.

Seeing as I had the dealership change this for me prior to agreeing to buy the car, they purchased 2 belts, and OEM pully from the Infiniti dealership for around or under $100. It took the mechanic about an 1 hour to properly install both. I asked if it was OK to watch as he did it and it wasn't that bad of a job. I think the OEM pully was $70 from dealership.

You can check the pulleys one at a time by removing the belt and running the engine. If the noise goes away you've found the bad bearing. Once you remove the pulley, it should rotate freely with no noise or grinding. If it shows any of these 3 symptoms replace it.

I'm not sure that I would trust bearings in my Q that only cost $2/ea. An option for you is to drive to the local Motion Industries outlet and purchase OEM NTN bearings for about $15/ea, maybe less if can wrangle a discount. You'll need 4. Here's a link to the set I purchased and had pressed in at work.

They have stores close to you in Concord, Gilroy and Sacto. It loks like you can create an account and order online.

Rev the engine in park. If you have the belt off it's very easy to remove the pulley.

If the whining noise can't be heard by revving the engine in park then your bearings probably aren't what's wrong. Belts don't care if the engine is loaded or not. Is the noise in any way related to the A/C cycling?

But there are 4 belts on a VH41DE and they and any failing pulley are always replace at once to avoid repeated labor soon after. Belts are cheap.

Retail for the good bearings is about $20 each. And there are 6 required as two of the pulleys are double bearings.

I don't use the A/C even if it's 100 outside i rather save gas and sweat then cool of and pay.Honestly when i sweat it doesn't bother me i just turn it on when it gets out of hand.

So i doubt it's anything with the A/C or can it?

AC will help gas mileage at highway speeds.

Sweat and leather not a good combination, even with girlfriends aside.
