Ok should i buy the 10 bearing set or just one?once i do that it should go away?5zigen wrote:check your belts, if they're fine then its your idler pulleys. you will need to take them out and have the bearings pressed back in.
go to http://www.vxb.com and search for bearing #6301RS and those are the bearings that are used on Nissan idlers
You can check the pulleys one at a time by removing the belt and running the engine. If the noise goes away you've found the bad bearing. Once you remove the pulley, it should rotate freely with no noise or grinding. If it shows any of these 3 symptoms replace it.unknown007 wrote:Ok should i buy the 10 bearing set or just one?once i do that it should go away?

I'm not sure that I would trust bearings in my Q that only cost $2/ea. An option for you is to drive to the local Motion Industries outlet and purchase OEM NTN bearings for about $15/ea, maybe less if can wrangle a discount. You'll need 4. Here's a link to the set I purchased and had pressed in at work.

Rev the engine in park. If you have the belt off it's very easy to remove the pulley.unknown007 wrote:

But there are 4 belts on a VH41DE and they and any failing pulley are always replace at once to avoid repeated labor soon after. Belts are cheap.slybydesignq45t wrote:Seeing as I had the dealership change this for me prior to agreeing to buy the car, they purchased 2 belts, ...
Retail for the good bearings is about $20 each. And there are 6 required as two of the pulleys are double bearings.goody94q45 wrote:I'm not sure that I would trust bearings in my Q that only cost $2/ea. I don't use the A/C even if it's 100 outside i rather save gas and sweat then cool of and pay.Honestly when i sweat it doesn't bother me i just turn it on when it gets out of hand.jimbyjimb wrote:If the whining noise can't be heard by revving the engine in park then your bearings probably aren't what's wrong. Belts don't care if the engine is loaded or not. Is the noise in any way related to the A/C cycling?
I have a girlfriend she goes through it but once i notice she cant i turn it on.Or sometimes i will just because i dont want her sweaty.qship96 wrote:Must not have a girlfriend/wife......they are not fans of ball musk!
