Long story short, I used the sohc interior harness, but a dohc chasis, lower, and engine harness on my 89 with a dohc swap. Was pretty sure I had everything wired up correctly...I did what people said with the ecu simply matching the like wires and soldering them on the dohc ecu clip.
Anyways I know I have fuel (smelled it), but when I went to start the car I saw smoke and found this:
Seen here after I cut the melted stuff off:
It's a plug that's taped down to the harness right before the ignition coil...^Here's a picture of it on my buddy's dohc s13. It's the plug you see taped down. It's right by the Power steering reservoir...right before the ignition coil on the harness.
Well I figured I'd just leave those wires cut like that so they wouldn't ground out or whatever the hell happened that made them melt like that and I wasn't getting spark.
So I'm thinking I needed that plug or who knows..it might be something else?
Anyways the question is this:
What is the plug for? (I looked on the FSM wiring diagram and didn't see it...
And do I need a whole new engine harness? I'm sure getting this plug from the stealership would cost about as much as a used harness. Anyways! any ideas??
