I purchased a 94 Q45 last weekend and its a fantastic car. 92K pampered original miles. It has always been highly maintained at the local dealer. It developed a miss and was down on power. I ohm checked the injectors via the pin connector (thanks to the info here) and got high readings for injector 5 and 7. Number 3 was just changed out shortly before I purchased the car. I added a can of generic injector cleaner additive to the tank and today it runs much better. A re ohm of the pins still shows higher than normal ohms at those injectors but they seem to be making a come back and the readings are down. Am I just hopefull or can these injectos be saved / cleaned? Im thinking I will need to pull the intake and do 5 and 7 and while Im there do 6 and 4. I would then have a couple spares to do replacements to the easy spots 1,2, and 8. The $700-$800 to buy 4 new injectors plus misc. pieces and spend a weekend pulling the manifold is not on my to do list before the holidays. Dealer wants $1,100 to do the 2 in question. I have read enough here to know the injectors are problematic. I have seen many tout this wonder cleaner additive BK44 ? Would a professional fuel system flush be a waste of money? Any hope or should I dust off the tools? Thanks, Mark in Phoenix

Hey Mark!

Greg in Phoenix here...

I'd HIGHLY recommend pulling them, shipping them off to Deatschwerks (one of our sponsors), and having them refurbished / flow-matched / rebuilt.

It's cheap, and not a terribly tough job.

I have a local guy who will do the R&R for you for a good price if you're not down to do it.

Greg,Would love to investigate any alternatives you may have. Im a pretty good with a wrench but would rather turn it over to a pro if possible. Too many other headaches and limited time. My email is [email protected],

Sure thing.

Make a call to David at Deatschwerks, see what he'll charge to make you a set of 8 good, matched injectors.

I'll ask my builder what he'd charge to swap them in. He's across town from you, but it's well worth the drive.

We're doing an engine swap in a 92 Q this weekend...

Good to know another Q owner in the valley.

Will do. I'll give them a call tommorow. Looks like a new #3 was installed exactly 2 months ago locally. I would think best bet would be to leave that one intact and deal with the other 7? I'll see what David recommends. Thanks, Mark

Run a can of BG44K, then measure the injector resistance with the car cold.

Any thing over 14Ohms is a dead or rapidly dying injector.

Have you changed all filters and fluids?

Having Greg help you out is a serious benefit of NICO.

All fluids and filters changed at 90K. Oil was just done at a local shop with Castrol GTX prior to my purchase. I will try the additive but I'v resigned myself to the fact that the injectors are most likely on borrowed time. I think Gregs's advice is wise. With all this injector monkey business, I have a feeling a new set of plugs would be a good idea also.

With misbehaving plugs, it is a good idea. In Arid Zona, I would consider the 6 heat range NGK.

Might look at your valve covers closely to see if leakage has started as you might as well replace them also when you do the plugs and the plenum is off.

Would you be able to post the results of your 2 tests?
