Hi all,

Any suggested mechanics around San Gabriel Valley from Monterey Park to Arcadia area? I need to replace 2 knock sensors and the MAF of my 96 Q45.

Thank you so much!

Take in mind that any good import shop will be able to turn wrenches for you.... They may not be able to diagnose too well....

REPLACE your MAF yourself! Its ridiculously easy, even if uou had to go buy the 2 tools it requires itd still be cheaper than paying someone to put a new one in...

Wes,

Thank you for your advise!

And how much more or less for them to replace both Knock Sensors (Labor cost)?

KS always replaced in pairs along with their harness. You will of course want to replace all the under plenum hoses, and clean the TB, EGR valve, IAC valve and the plenum while it is all apart. That way you save on repeat labor.

http://www.jerrytucker.net for a shop

http://www.infinitipartsusa.com for parts.

Do the labor on the MAF, or as much as you feel confident, yourself. Are you sure of the diagnosis?

to do everything that you should do (what brian said), probably 4-6 billable hours... its a better job to DIY because its really easy but very time consuming..

A few weeks ago i guided a guy through the plenum job (over the phone), was pretty much a novice at working on Q but now hes pretty good.... The offer remains open...
