I searched and i couldnt find any answers. Im looking for some nice 4 lug wheels for my s13. I would prefer not to do the 5 lug swap, so are there any nice wheels out there? I really kinda like the old school wheels i see on AE86's like panasport, but I here you can't use them with coilovers. Any suggestions? Pics?

Check out http://www.tirerack.com or http://www.discounttiredirect.com for tons of wheel choices. If you're desperate, you can also search eBay for "wheels 240sx" or "wheels altima".

Wantanabe RS8's.... very famous as AE86 wheels, you can get a used set of 16X7s for around 700 W/O tires. They are two piece i belive and very light (did i mention they were old school?). If you are really interested email me and ill tell yah where you can get them.

I think that you can use watanabes with coilovers, you just have to use wheel spacers.

what about these?black racing N1's

i here lots of people talking about the advan RG's

these are knockoff's, decent weight, look good, dirt cheap. they don't have the right offset on the website, but i know they do make them, jspec.com has a full list of sizes they make.

never seen anyone mention them on the forums before.

I’ve always wondered that as well, like that rim right there is a volk gram light knockoff( the other a avdan model 5), they weight 16.5 lbs per wheel at 17x 7.5 and cost 600 a set, appose to 265 a wheel for the real gram lights. They have a pretty good selection of sizes as well and I believe all of there wheels come in the 4x114 bolt pattern.

so there light, dirt cheap, easy to find, and they make knockoff’s of volk and mugan, spoon, racing hearts etc. all nice wheels

So could someone like Exar-Kun who seems to know his facts on this topic explain to me why you would shell out double, triple or 4 times more then the price to get the real thing(one of the advan model 5's cost what the set of battles cost.)? There is a slight weight difference, but I wouldn't say they are heavy, being a pound or two heavier then a volk wheels isn't anything to be ashamed off. They are the same size so they will fit big breaks and coilovers, same goes for the N1's, SSC used them on there project 350z, they are made by either bozz, or 5zigen... they placed the order with bozz, but 5zigen dropped them off... anyhow, they put big breaks and coilovers on the car.

quality. I have never seen an advan or Rays/VOLK or even a racing heart wheel come in with these problems:-out of round(wheel doesnt roll smooth)'-chips/bad casting spots(little areas of the casting that are too high/low or a small fisure area etc)-poor finish(pain is clearcoated and nice, even finish)

things like that, also, companies like those mentioned also have far better customer support if you have a problem, and can custom make offsets(like mine), whereas knock-offs cannot.

there ya go :)

also, like tires, sometimes theres parent companies(michellin owns BFgoodrich) and that can come into play as far as quality goes.

I see your point, and if the rim every does go out of round and needs to be fix; it will never be as strong as it was. Does ray's have any kind of warranty for there wheels on that matter?

The thing is to though, that at half or even 1/4 the cost, replacing 1 wheel isn’t so bad :P clearly you feel its a better choice just getting the best wheels in the first place seeing as how your running volk's, but I think my first wheels will still be something like the rota's or N1's, and if there are problems, I will learn the hard way, it seems like to good of a deal to pass up. I’ve never heard bad things about them from anyone, other then the finish that you had mentioned, SCC commented on that as well about the wheels, but I think I would still take 4 of them over 1 advan.

That is unless someone can get me a really good deal on some real gram lights *nudges Exar-Kun* :icesangel

hahhahahaha. like "ho ho ho 50% off all wheels" or something? negative! I can get wholesale on certain wheels, but I dont sell many ROTA or otherwise.

I agree that the price difference is signifigant, but I go with the fact(A.) that knock offs never look quite as nice(IMO) and (B) you get what you pay for. I paid, Im happy. and VOLK has a pretty much unconditional warranty, if you have a problem and call them you get it fixed as long as its not "driver induced" dammage.

but yeah, for 1/2 the price, as long as you dont mind offset(coilover clearance) and minor quality issues, you get a nice wheel for a lot less money.

its similar to buying a falken or yokohama instead of a pirelli or bridgestone tire.

So do you think these rota wheels will fit big brakes and coilovers? The battles and the attacks are 17x7.5 4x114.3 +45. I would like the wheels to be closer to the fender than stock.

theres a good chance those wont fit coilovers, not only is the wheels an inch wider than stock, but its also 5mm closer in(the offset) than the stock wheel....not a good combo for coilover clearance.

but, you really dont definitively(sp?) know until you try to put them on. they will be a bit close to the fender than stock, maybe. 3mm or so, goto the faq and check the wheel offset calculator.-chet

the rota's come in ton's of different sizes and offsets, most places just don't advertize every single one of them, but mostlikely could get them for you.

for reference, exar are 17x7.5 with a 30mm offset, and you said that will clear coilovers and big breaks fine right?

I've been wheel shopping lately too, income tax returns are getting close :D Anyhow, would it be worth my while to have wider drive tires? Maybe 7s in the front and 7.5's in the back? No noticeble difference? I really like RH s7's but they don't come in variable widths. Anyhow, if wider drives are a waste of time I'll just get the s7's, if it would be better then I'll keep searching. I don't want a drifter, I want a sticky car!
