On the last straw with my car. 2006 M35X.

Was driving along 2 weeks ago and the car ran perfectly. Out of nowhere it died.

After I got to the side of the road I started it again and it starts fine. Idles fine. Touch the gas pedal ( sometimes literally just touch it) and the car immediately cuts out.

Took it to the dealer and they started off redoing all the grounds - no change.

Stumped they were going to try the gas pedal. As I was $1k in by that time, I took the car back and figured I'd do the work myself.

Replaced the pedal assembly - no change
Replaced the Throttle Body with a used one I picked up. - No change, though the idles hunts all over the place and will hold revs after I let off the gas. Still dies out the second I stab the throttle quickly. So maybe a bad TB,but the initial issue remained.

Had a G37 rental for a little bit so I swapped the MAF sensor - No change

Codes that I get all seem to relate to TPS P2123, 2128, 2138

Possible I got a second bad gas pedal? maybe I suppose, but what are the odds?

and why does it run PERFECT when it's cold? no issues at all, but as soon as it hits a certain temperature I can't give it gas with out stalling.

If I pull the MAF sensor I can cause the car to go into Limp Mode. In limp mode the car runs fine. Stabbing the throttle just revs the car up as it should. Go back out of limp mode, instantly the problem comes back.

I don't want to spend thousands having the dealers guess at the problem.

Does anyone have any ideas where to look next?

Thanks so much for any help.

Mike

first, you want to scan for codes. you can do the cheap way by buying a bluetooth dongle and the torque app so you can use your smart phone as a scanner.

second, if those lights come on, i'm willing to bet that it's the camshaft position 1 sensor malfunction. Now if you have those lights and your car suddenly stop, power cuts off and car basically stalled, then it's definitely the camshaft sensor. cost of sensor OEM is around 150 or less but if you have the dealer do the work, i'm sure it'll cost you at least 250 or over.

i've done these things and posted on here. you can search my my sn for more information.

I would try to contact him and ask him a few questions, this may be related to your issue.

Good luck, Freddie :dblthumb:

Thanks, you think it's common for it to be a camshaft sensor with no sign of a code about it?

I'm no expert but I do know that codes don't help all the time. :tisk:

I have heard of the camshaft sensor problem from a few members on different forums.

Thats why I told you to contact cruzad3r to see if it may be the same issue. :gotme

I was going to PM you this but you don't have PM.

This is just for reading:

The camshaft sensor has been going on for a long time not only for the M but for all nissan, from the Sentra to the Titans.

Could also be something bad with your ECU. Id say either that or camshaft sensor problem, or something with the fuel system.
