I talked to a guy in my area that has some Tein coilovers for my car that have 4k miles on them, that he would be willing to sell for relatively cheap.

Besides obvious worries about whether there is damage to the set, are there any real hazards about using pre-installed coilovers?

ALso, can the actual strut of aftermarket kits be rebuilt?

it can be rebuilt, if it's only 4k they should be fine but hence the IF part. In addition, you don't know how he drove in that 4k miles

if it's the tein basic, it might not worth your trouble

Does he have an invoice with his vehicle mileage on it? Say, from having them installed at a shop? Who's going to rebuild them and how much will that cost?

Price is $400, and yes he does have proof of purchase.

And I trust him just as much as the next guy.

why is he selling it? are the shocks okay or blown? if it's blow... walk away. How about this, ask him to wait while you install them... it's okay to test drive around with bad camber.... once it's installed you can tell whether they are blown or in good condition... If he say it takes too long just give him your Driver License and/or down pay 200$ first and you can take the time to do your install... If he refuses then don't do it.
