Bring this thread back to life as there is some newer turbos out there now.Want to run a Down Mount Manifold and they only seem to have a T-2 Flange. All the above Turbos can be had with a T-2 Flange.

Building a Stock Block Kouki with 60,000 original miles, Automatic.Interested in Spool up time and RPM's where full boost is made?

Thanks,Dave

Do you mean GT2871R?

If so, it'll be better than the DP.

Like was asked above, are you talking about the GT2871R versus the GT28RS??

If so, the GT2871 will spool slower but make better top end power. I have heard it can hit 10lbs of boost right around 3000 rpm. I'll be getting one, as soon as a bunch of money falls into my lap.

yup, that's about right for the .64 a/r gt2871r... gt28rs will probably spool a little quicker but you'll sacrifice that for top end. All depends on what your goals are

Additionally, the GT28RS is rated at only around 36lb/min MAX (high boost, high intake temps), whereas the GT2871R is rated at 44lb/min MAX. The upshot here is that the GT2871RS would make 300whp much more efficiently.

Yea, i am looking to make 300rwhp

The car is an original 60,000 miles, Automatic with a shift kit and cooler.Factory ABS LSD car.

I am going to run a SR20DET type down mount manifold, hoping for OBX, or open to other ideas.I want a low profile look, kindof smog legal, turbo dump into the exhaust, quiet, BOV into the intake.Z32 MAF.550 CC injectors.Daughter board in a 95 OBD I computer, car is 98.Walbro 255 fuel pump.Adj FPR for tuning.Z32 front brakes.I have struts and Eibach springs.

Can these stock blocks really take 15 lbs?

Honestly, to make 300hp on that setup, you'll have to run some kinda high boost pressures (probably around 16-18psi?). Also, you'll want the .86 (or maybe it's .82...can't remember) A/R turbine housing, otherwise the exhaust will choke in the upper rpm range. It will most likely still run out of steam in the upper rpm range, as far as torque is concerned.

The most suitable unit to efficiently make 300whp on the KA is the T3/T04E .50 trim (not saying that because I have one, but because compressor maps don't lie). Another good one is the GT32 from AMS, which will be about the same $$$ as a new T3/T04E, but comes with ball bearings. And the GT35R is good, but it's about $1200, and would be a tad bit overkill.

While these won't get you a bottom mount setup, you will have a safer setup, as it shouldn't require more than about 12psi to hit your desired power. Also, the torque curve will be much better. You could opt for the .48 A/R if you want quick boost response, or you could go with a .63 A/R and have full boost around 3700rpm, sustaining it all the way to 8,000rpm, if you so choose to wind it out that far.

Just something to consider.

when does the AMS GT32 hit full boost?

when does the .48 A/R T3/T04E hit full boost? will it start to choke in the upper RPM's?

The AMS GT32 is a . 63 A/R turbine, but ball bearing, so I think it spools around 3400rpm. Right now it's only $650, which is silly low.

The .48 T3/T04E will choke in the upper rpm. You would see full boost around 2800rpm.

For the price, I think the GT32 would be a better option.

I'm 99% sure the GT32 isnt ball bearing. Ivan mentioned this on ka-t.org. They can make you one with a ball bearing CHRA, but you gotta pay for that option. The GT30R is BB, but I havent heard any comments from KA-T guys.

I wouldnt choose the T3/T4 until I talked to Chris and Ivan to learn the specs on their modified GT32.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was under the impression it was a BB turbo (since it had the GT prefix).

The GT30 isn't so great for the price.
