Does anyone have any experience of changing ECUs? My old one on my Z31 1988 300ZX seems to have suffered from a rain leak and will deliver neither fuel nor spark to the engine. ( It only cranks over). I have seen a number of alternative replacements from other Z31s of the same, or adjacent year. Like mine they are non turbo and manual transmission. They are mainly from the USA and I am in the UK where mine was first registered. None have exactly the same part number. The nearest has 9 of the 10 digits the same. Only the final digit is different. Does anyone have thoughts or opinions on whether this or ones similar are likely to work? (at least to start the engine and make the car mobile). Thoughts, opinios, experience - welcome

Sorry for the loss that's def a bummer problem to have run into. If you can't find a matching part # ecu you might be in for an upgrade... If you want to dig deeper check your ECU's pin out and compare it to the other similar z31 ecu parts # pin outs. (likely they will be the same and you can use one of them in your car).
IF you can't get any oem nissan replacement ECU you can always upgrade to a standalone ECU which will then allow you to get the engine tuned and running better/more efficiently than it ever did on the oem ECU. Or course this option is likely going to be more $$ than finding an oem ecu.
In the case you can't get an oem ECU you could upgrade to a Haltech Elite 2500 ECU and use the plug an play Harness option (assuming you don't want to do any re wiring yourself).
