Any discounts on high end cars?

I'm not actually considering a M. But M is now the flagship car.

I'll ask the question here. All of the "rich people" I know don't seem to want to tell me how much of a discount they got on their high end cars, Benz, BMW, Lexus and etc. Maybe they are afraid it will make them look cheap.

New purchases.

I've only seen lease specials. Today, I can walk into a Honda dealership and get $3,000 off of a 2011 Accord V6 EX-L. Can I get the same kind of deal from Infiniti? Is that how they move metal?

If I ask for such a deal, will the Infiniti (or other brand) salesman tell me to get the f*** out?

BTW, I was looking at a used one, and they guy basically said that to me "I only deal with high end customers" so basically this is it......

I've never purcahsed a "luxury" brand car before, but have plently of experience with all the others, GM-Ford-Toyota-Honda-Nissan, etc. Do I work the deal the same way. Ask for the moon and come down to somewhere in the middle?

Can you guys give me actual examples of discounts you gotten on new purchases?

I won't think any less of you. Thanks.

Go to zag.com and put in that you are an american express card holder. Then look for your car and the pricing it has for it that you should be able to get. This is a good start.

You can handle it like any other dealrship. I went to an infiniti dealer and they gave me a good trade in value for my car but wanted to charge me over 27k for an 06 m35s without adv tech package, rear dvd and wouldn't budge on their price when at the time it was worth 24k max. I told them I have another dealership in VA with an M45s I would drive for if they didn't go lower and thats what I ended up having to do. Spent 25.9 on an M45s with everything possible and was worth 29k at the time.

When i went for mine they absolutely refused to budge on the price, I asked a few times over a couple days as a matter of fact. Told them I had other offers and everything under the sun and they wouldn't even budge $500. So I decided to start the whole process, had them clean it, detail it, fix a couple things, secure the financing, then I backed out the last day telling them it was too much. They called me back 30 min later and dropped the price by $2,000 including elite warranty. Lesson, when you just walk in you're only a potential customer. Once they start doing things, they've already counted the money and spent it in their head...you have more control and bargaining power. Just be reasonable to what the market is. Good luck.

My experience, the luxury brands that I've visited have less "tactics" if you know going prices for the product. Their brand is luxury, so they're expecting those that come in are willing to pay for it. But if you come in not knowing market price, then more games come abound, and you pay for THEIR definition of luxury price, not necessarily market value. Decide your price first, check if its fair, then go shopping.

I came into Volvo knowing the S90 turbo had at least an 8k budge, and the fin guy didnt want to move 3k. I gave him last chance, didnt budge.
BMW was upfront, and gave me competitive 3k down, right off the bat.
Benz moved 4.5k.
Infiniti had incentives upto 11k, and 3 dealers wouldnt move to 8k, let alone 11k. Last dealer phone call made the deal, and got the 11.5k off MSRP, to start.

All were phone calls made before getting to the dealer. They dont want to waste any more time than you do.

i've used edmunds, truecar.com and kbb to get an idea on what everyone is paying and then used email to bargain. they know if they don't give me a good price, someone else will.

i would be polite, informed and drive a hard bargain. just because it's a luxury brand doesn't mean they don't need to move cars.

Other than taking appointment for test drive, I don't see any difference in haggling whether it is a Kia dealership or BMW. I would bargain hard and without shame. After all it is your hard earned money.
