as long as you don't have emisions in your area you should be ok and if you do some people say it will pass the sniffer with out the aiv. i removed mine about two years ago and it runs fine

There's no point in removing the system unless it's faulty. But if you do remove it, you will notice an increase of about 25ppm in HC and .2% increase in CO at idle test. Driving test has no effect.

I just removed my AIV system, and it ran like crap. This was during the installation of the HOTSHOT headers, We capped it off on the header pipe, and the AIV we pulled all out. Well we figured out that it was running so crappy becuase one of the vacuum lines... yes... it had vacuum. So you can plug it up with a nail or something. Whatever works.

for the hole in the header believe it or not you can use a nickel. place the nickel in the hole and then use the nut from the old aiv tube and tighten it down and there you go no leak and it doesn't melt. Some one makes an actuale plug for it but can't rember who and the deminsions for it, but the nickel works it sounds gheto but it holds. i tryed to take a pic of it but my cam's not working its all fuzzy.
