I'm getting a deal on 4 of these 16x7 Motegi 4x100/4x114.3 wheels. Decent look but nothing to write on web about.I got 4 of them with lug nuts for $240 at RiverCity shop and now I need tires.New Nitto 225/50/16 will be $95 each, great price but out of my current budget. And I need to get a good set soon with all this rain and crappy 15" rear tires I have.

Anyone here know of an online shop that sell good tires for cheap? But I don't really know which tires are good, except for Nitto and Kumho SPT that is a grade lower.

If anyone can give example of good tires compared relative to Nitto 450, it would be really helpful for me to start looking for alternative brands. I'm just looking for tires with good grip with good price. I do know that great grip does not come with great price.Ride comfort or thread life is no issues at all.

Thanks

I personally like Falken Ziexs. Rather cheap and really good tires. I run Falken all the way.

Thank you, I'll start looking at those right away.I have 225/50/15 cheapos in the back and they nearly spun out my car (no LSD) on a wet road the other day when I tried to step on gas starting after a red light.

What is that RPM rating on a tire?I seeHankook Radial K106225/55R16RPM 803

Nexen N5000225/55R16RPM 670

Both have the same diameter of 25.7 inches so I know it's not revolutions per mile. Is there a limit to how many rotational speed a tire can safely take?

I found 225/50/16 Riken Raptor ZR tires on tiresavings.com for $63 each + $15 shipping. I'm thinking of buying some of those at the RiverCity shop for less price.Has anyone ever tried Riken Raptor ZR tires? How do they compare to Federal (similar price), Nexen 3000 ($10 more price) or Nitto 450 ($20 more price)?

Also, if anyone have pics of tire fitment, I'd like to see 225 width on a 7 inch wheel please. Thanks

Bump!

I just found a thread about them in the Pony forums and according to the hod-rods they grip pretty well. Although I don't know if it's the Raptor or Raptor ZR they're talking about.http://www.mustangforums.com/m_1680390/tm.htm

run a 205/50/16 on that size wheel

easy way to save a few bucks, and itll be sized better

i mean you can get hankook rs2's for 85 a piece in that size...for an example

and that tire is by far the best bang for the buck street tire

Are you saying the 205 will have better grip on a 7 inch width than a 225? I'm concerned about the lateral grip and the wheel not applying pressure on the outer sides of the tire patch.

Bump! This is the Motegi wheel I'm getting.http://www.motegiracing.com/ap...=None16x7 with 42 mm offset. Stock S-13 is 15x6 with 40mm offset.Does that mean I'll need 10mm spacers on the front and rear wheels?

205s will fit the wheels better...205 is perfect for a 7 inch wheel

tire width has a slim to nil effect on lateral grip

Wordup. They suck as$ in anything but dry weather if you are laying down any power equal or greater than a stock SR.

with that width wheel just go with 205s. and if you're really concerned about grip get better wheel sizes like 9s. i recommend you federal 595s or falken ziex. i think the federal ones are better. and i have experience with both

people who think ast's are grippy need to run on something better before saying that

ive had asx's for a couple months now, those are a step above ast's, and they suck so bad that im getting rid of them asap, a near brand new set of tires that cost me $530 installed

needless to say, ziex and ast's and the like suck, the federals from what ive heard worth it for the price, but for another $30 you can get the kook rs2's i mentioned from edge, which no other tire mentioned even comes close to for the price

What about Avon Tech M500? TireRack Test results rate them like they're made by gods. I can get a set for $45 each on discount. How do those compare to Nitto 450 or Kumho Escta Sport SPT?

Isn't the Kumho ASX a shiity average All-Season? I haven't heard of anyone talk about their Escta Sport KU31 models. My gf has them on the front and they're rated 320 AA A with large contact patches.https://www.tiresavings.com/ti...eason=

the asx is a ****ty all season

the falken ziex is an even ****tier all season

the ast is the ****ty summer version of the ****ty asx, and its even ****tier than the asx, which doesnt even make sense

point is they all suck

i went from avon tech m500 to asx and it makes me really not enjoy even driving it right now, thats why im trying to get rid of them asap

Seems like I'll end up with 195/55/15 Avon M500 on my 15x6 stock wheels.I would've gone 225/50/16 for wider contact but the cost of even cheap new wheels are going to cost me too much.

I don't know anyone who has Riken Raptor ZR UHP tires so it's hard to go with it.https://www.tiresavings.com/ti...eason=

Is it a good idea to put on spacers?I have a pair of 10mm 4x100/114.3 spacers I want to put in the rear. Will it promote understeer or oversteer? Shuold I get longer studs? Which stud would be good replacement over stock and not break up?

check http://www.tiresavings.com there the cheapest place ive found for federal tires and they also sell the Federal Runway 916 which IMO look a lil better than the SS-595's and are about 2 dollars cheaper.

I ordered 4 Avon M500 205/50/15 from TireRack with dealer discount. I'll try them out and if I don't like them I'll sell them back and get the new wheels and order tires from tiresavings. No one seems to stock Riken Raptors.
