Please desperately need some experienced KA24DE-T HELP any one who has a built ka for turbo, I finally got my motor back from machine shop, pauter rods ,Ross pistons8:5-1 jimwolf cams all valve components from KA24DE.COm and started it yesterday and hear a funny sound at above 2000rpm from distributor and timing chain area. I know that I told them (machine shop ) to leave the upper chain guides off , maybe that might be it any have any ideas on that? And any one out there running jimwolf ecu 3bar with 72lbs injectors and cobra mafs ,I bought a super afcII with knock sensor and fine tune fuel curves with it ,I have LM-1 wideband . I have a 93 withSR20 swap in it and the superafc works great on it. Any one running superafc and cobra mafs ,how do you set the settings on the afc , the in and out numbers ? Any help from you guys would be great!!! I always look for help here ,where I live there is no tuners around for 400+ miles!!! Thank you for any input or help with super afc numbers and if any one has a built up KA and might know what the noise might be before I drive it any more ,I just started it up and drove around block. the noise sounds like where the dist. and timing chain collide. ' thanks mike :( :(

wow.. thats funny... i cant help you with the tuning and all that..but to check that noise... try taking off the valve cover and the upper timing chain cover... and see wutsup..and pull the distributor also and see if it touches the timing chain or something else...

why 72 lb injectors with cobra mafs? I thought the cobra mafs was only good to 350 hp so 50 or 55's would be fine?can't help with the problem, so as usual I launch off topic on an area of personal interest.

As far as I know, unless you just happen to find a setting that is close enough, there is no direct setting for the S-AFC to adjust for the Cobra MAF's. Other than that, if that sound is indeed coming from where you say it is, its likely from the timing chain or tensioners. I would not run it again until you figure out exactly what the problem is. Perhaps while rebuilding the motor the machine shop forgot to unhook or unpin the tensioners? IT seems like it would be hard to miss, but it WOULD make a horrible sound such as you are describing. The only way to find out is to start taking things apart until you find the source of the problem.
