Any aftermarket way to soften the ride?

Yeah I know, probably sounds like an odd question from a Versa owner. After all, one shouldn't expect a luxury sedan ride from an inexpensive sub-compact car.

I always see many threads on here talking about how to tighten the handling characteristics with new struts, springs, or bars. I'm used to how my Versa handles. I'm interested to know if someone knows of a good product to soften the ride. I realize this is probably some combination of struts/springs, but I don't even know where to start looking, or if even such a product exists to fit the Versa yet.

Any ideas?

I'm not too sure of the aftermarket support on suspension products for the Versa, but you can always buy tires with a higher sidewall. In this case, you would buy a smaller wheel and put on a larger tire, allowing for the increased rubber flex to help deaden some of the road feel that you get. That's one option...

Take you shocks and struts off. heh heh

I'm joking of course as that would be dangerous.

You could reduce the pressure in your tires (like if they are over 33). I keep 40 PSI in the Camel so I'm used to a rougher ride.

I know there are a limited number of suspension options for the V, but they're more sport and would be a little stiffer.

You may not be able to do much about it.

Well the stock Continentals aren't the highest rated tires on comfort or road noise. Find a different brand of tire and size it to 195/70.

I don't think there are after market shock absorber options for the Versa yet, but ride quality is a function of the shocks not springs. Shocks are also known as dampers, they dampen the up and down oscillation of the suspension. I think the stock shocks are higher rated than the stock springs, which explains why people are saying the ride is fine with higher rated after market springs. If after market shocks were available, I'd suggest a set with adjustable dampers so that you can fine tune the ride to your preference.

Honestly, for handling and safety reasons, I wouldn't tinker with it much as the stock system is already pretty soft. I can easily break traction on one side while cornering just slightly more aggressive than normal.

I believe factory prescribed tire pressure is 33 psi. Too much and you decrease the area of the contact patch which leads to less traction. Too little and you increase chance of rolling onto the sidewall under hard cornering which could lead to a blow-out, very dangerous. Tires can deflate 1 psi a month. So check your tire pressure from time to time. Tire choice and pressure make the biggest difference in handling.

There was one guy that said he had some prefab Tein-S adjustables.. I think that'll help out your ride... It's going to be a little expensive, but they should be pretty damn nice..

A. put a bit of weight at the back of the trunk.B. put some thicker & wider tires on

and/or C.

buy those 3rd party crappy spring, so that the spring gets softer in no time.
