My 02 Infiniti Q45 has audio problems that I had diagnosed through Infiniti which would cost me $2,000.00 to repair. Are there any aftermarket radios that can use the intergated screen while still being able to use all the noral controls of Navigation, A/C, etc? Thanks!

hmm, not sure about that. We haven't done any yet so haven't done any research. I'll do some digging and post any findings. I just looked at Scosche and they don't have anything. You look up the car and they only show a pocket kit but I know that's not what you need. I'll have to look around and make a few calls.

Sounds pretty spendy for a repair. I'd get a second opinion. Ditto Wes, what is the problem anyway?

The Infiniti dealership said that the audio component got fried, he thinks from a jump, when my battery went out on me. I got the batttery replaced, but the audio goes in and out on me.

How many miles do you have on the car? I assume your warranty is gone? If you have below 100k you could get a warranty and than wait 3 weeks and get it repaired under warranty.

I was always worried about these new integrated radios and big $$$ repairs later in life.

I have 85k miles, but i do have a warrenty that I purchased 3year/36,000 mile warranty that is good up to my 105,000 mile mark. My warranty says that no warranty will cover audio problems. I was furious considering I paid $2,100.00 for the warranty.

thanks for concern with my issue... everything works accordingly except that the audio flickers in and out consistently every 2 seconds.

What type of warranty did you purchase that will not cover audio??? That seems absurd to me, is this a Nissan warranty? Did you try to raise hell, I'll bet you did already.

I did raise hell...I even spoke with Nissan's warrenty dept and they don't even cover audio, even if it is stock. I checked with other warrenty companies and none of them cover audio. My warranty is through Smart Auto Warranty. For $2,100.00 you would think it would be covered.

If I were you I would gin up a very well worded but sharp letter or e-mail to Nissan Customer Service. I had a problem, this is ancient history, with a 1984 300ZX radio after 3 years and they agreed to fix it if I paid R&R.

I would at least give that a shot, tell them what a big Nissan fan you are, how many of their cars you own, bla bla bla, see if you can get someone in Customer Service to take pity on you and get you some help via the dealership.

I think with the way these radios are integrated into the screens you're going to be hard pressed to find something aftermarket. If they do have anything Crutchfield would have it but if I'm you I'd take a shot at Customer Service.

Let us know how you do! I have 4 Nissans so when I dealt with them before I always made sure they knew it.

I've repaired several of those.take it to a local car audio REPAIR shop.NOT one of those places that sells car radios.

Those aftermarket warranty companies are a SCAM.As a someone who does repair, I will no longer deal with them.

I would consider doing an Alpine TME-770S Touch screen to replace the stock screen. It seems to be about the same size. Then use the Alpine Vehiclehub and the Alpine navigation. Replace the tape deck with a single din dvd player and the cd changer with the alpine mp3 changer in the glove box.

I'd still like to get a more detailed description of the problem and symptoms. From the small amount of info you've shared there are a few external things you could try to possibly narrow down the issue. Pulsing power can be caused by faulty grounds and a short in one of the speakers. Is the pulsing all the time power is on or only at higher volumes? Does the pulsing frequency change with volume, RPM, engine on or off, etc. What is happening on the display? Is it flashing, normal, etc.

I would double check the radios gound and would probably wire up a new ground from chassis to the radio case and see if problem gets better, worse or same. Then I'd try disconnecting each speaker one at a time to see if any of them change the condition.

Can you get more in depth about your problem? There are a few of us that have been in the car audio industry for quite a while and could possibly help with troubleshooting help and info.
