Welcome to NICOclub! Glad to have you here in the Armada/QX56 forum.

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about your gas mileage besides the following:

- make sure air pressure in your tires is where it should be- make sure you perform scheduled maintenance as recommended (oil, filters)- USE YOUR CRUISE CONTROL WHEN POSSIBLE- lay off the gas pedal as much as possible- brake as little as possible- consider using a K&N air filter (slightly better mileage, lasts forever with cleanings)

We are all feeling the pinch, especially those of us with the less green machines. If you do see anything that advertises better gas mileage, chances are, it is too good to be true!

Unfortunately the difference in air flow restrictions between brands of drop in air filters doesn't even get close to 1% from worst to best. Regardless of the marketing manipulations and out right lies companies expound to sell their products.

The trick to MPG is to buy gasoline that has highest btu per gallon and E10 is down by 3% which translates to 3% worse MPG.

I know i'm going to get burned for this but.. I own an auto parts store and we have the Tornado system that goes in your intake. I put one in with a drop in K&N air filter and I am getting better gas mileage. Only like 2 miles to the gallon better but hey, I figure better is better.. right? Anyway, I don't know if I would say they're a miracle worker but I think it was worth the cash. Especially since I don't pay retail

The Tornado thing is crap, however your increase in mileage in more than likely from the K&N filter allowing the engine to breathe better. The Tornado thing is about as good as the ground strap hype that is supposed to ensure a better flow of current to your electrical items, causing them to work more efficiently. YEAH RIGHT! The only thing the makers of the Tornado are seeing is the rushing in of all the money people are spending on their crap and that is about to BLOW them down..Hence the name 'Tornado'. I'll admit the QX56 has very poor fuel mileage, but that 5.6 liter has pulled everything I've hooked to the hitch.
