antilck lock brakes

yes they did. my '91 LE hatch has ABS.....i can tell because it has ABS light on the dash, wheel speed sensors at all corners, and one GIGANTERRIFIC ABS module almost stopping the hood from closing in the Passenger rear of the engine bay.

you would have a system pictured here at the top left against the firewall with lines coming from it leading to the brake booster on the other side.
