I just got a note from my insurance company that states according to their records, my vehicle (vert) may have a passive anti theft device. Do we have this on our verts?

But Seriously Ive Never Looked but this is Supposed to be what we have.

An anti-theft device for positioning over the ignition housing of a vehicle's steering column to protect ignition and anti-theft components contained therein is disclosed. This device has armored guard means including a band which extends around the ignition housing, a cylindrical portion to protect the ignition key cylinder housing, and a cover with an ignition key slot there through. Means for fastening the armored guard onto the steering column in a permanent manner are also provided. This anti-theft device is passive, aesthetically pleasing, economical to manufacture, has an extremely low likelihood of mechanical failure and yet is capable of providing outstanding protection against forced entry into the ignition and anti-theft components of a vehicle

Hey, dont know if should really put this out there... but it seems like one key works with all s13's. I got together with a few guys and my key opened two of their cars, and started another. Scary stuff! And one of their's opened and started mine! So it doesnt really matter how strong anything is if anybody's key starts your car. So I did what I could...

Low Jack (it already saved my car once)QD wheel lock Kill switch

My car is not getting stolen again.

there is actually a code inside the glove box on most S13's hat you can give to a locksmith and somehow they can make the key before they get to you. me and my Friend had it done when he bought an S13 once. So im thinking it Either corresponds to the year? Or there is a couple of codes. I know i stole My friends S13 once with my S13 key. Hey really **** himself when he came out and it was gone. While he was standing there I drove past him, Should have seen his face.

saturn has the same flaw.

at one time, i owned 2 different (models and years) saturns. they were purchased from different places and at different times.

the key from one would open the doors and trunk of the other.

yeah i got my keys mixed up with my roomates old hatch keys and another set of s-13 keys from work and I was pretty blown when i tried all three and all three def opened up my doors. But this is why we invented cut of switches and removable steering wheel hubs ^^

If they are offering a lower premium on the car, I would question your insurance company

In regard to what MadMikeX3 said about what we are suppose to have, I do have a metal "gaurd" of some sort on the lower half of the steering column (kinda useless from what I made of it, but you could potentially use it to route/protect the ignition harness), but no corresponding upper portion that covers the ignition/etc.

That sucks dood, sorry to hear.

Don't think there is much a difference between compustar & viper (I have both).

Did the alarm not go off? If it didn't go off, most likely installer error.

If it did go off, that's all the compustar would have done as well.

No it did not go off and its worked before sometime I would forget it was on and open the door and it would go off. For some reason it did not go off. I think Jedi Masters did this

As I've said all along, the best anti-theft device is to keep a bag of rattlesnakes in your car. If they are foolish enough to break in at least you can find them close by.
