A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

All,

I'm a the proud owner of 3 Nissan's now!!! Ok, now that we have that out of the way, I have a few problems with my last purchase. I just purchase my daughter a used 1999 Nissan Sentra. I am having a few issues that i would like some help with.

1. Anti- theft system is not currently working. I know the car has anti-theft and I am pretty sure it has keyless entry. Now, lets get to what I know, which is not much. The person that had this car did not take good care of the car. Currently there is a key broken off in the trunk(I'll get this fixed shortly). The trunk light switch is broken. I can not find any switch under the hood. Both door keys and ignition keys are the same and all work. The power door locks work. The door key does not unlock all the doors when turned twice(I'm not sure this is feature on this model, but is on my 2000 Frontier). I have check all of the fuses in the fuse boxes(under dash and in engine compartment). I have a copy of the FSM and have a pretty good understanding of checking the circuits. Looking for any insight into best place to start.
1a. A few more details learned to day. Took the VIN number by the Nissan Dealear. He said that it should have keyless entry because it offered to sell me a remote.
1b. I got the key removed from the trunk
1c. I removed the connector from the SECU(smart entry control unit). Started to follow the diagnosis. Step 4 indicated to check the indicator led. Said to check the
security indicator lamp check. EL 199 -- http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Sentra/1999 ... _SR/el.pdf. Says to check pin 33 to ground for voltage. Problem is
that there is no wire to pin 33.

2. There is a loose vacuum hose on the car. One end connects directly to throttle body on the under side. This connector is directly above the ERG. Any idea where the other end goes.

I know there are going to be some other issues, but I would like to start with these 2 issues first.

Well, my first issue is resolved. No thanks to Nissan FSM. The security light is not connected to the smart control board as indicated. Thus the rest of the diagnostic testing in the FSM is useless. I was able to get the keyless entry into program mode and make it work.

Still need a little help with the Vacuum hose.

Thanks

I realize you gave a pretty good description but if you could post up some pics of where those hoses are I'm sure someone on here would be able to better indentify it for you.

Well,
After this weekend, the hose problem is fixed. Woo!! Hoo!! When I took out the breather to clean, I was able to locate the correct hose location. I do appreciate your response though.

I should let all that are interested in the anti-theft/keyless entry know that security light on my computer was never wired in from the factory. This is crazy since the wiring diagnosis from the factory service manual relies on this security light to check all of the door sensors, etc. I had to read the wiring schematic and determine the wire should have voltage or should be grounded in the open/closed positions and then use the appropriate test with volt meter (check voltage, or ohms). Additionally, I was forced to refer between multiple drawings to determine the function of each pin in the smart board. If anyone is having a hard time getting theirs to work, let me know.
