Tried the search button with no luck. With more and more 240's being stolen I plan to do something to disable the car. An alarm system takes time to install, so what would be some quick diy ways like the fuel pump shutoff switch, or other easy solutions with a hidden switch of some sort? Anyone have any ideas?

The loudest most obnoxious sounding alarm set to go off every few seconds after the alarm is tripped. Think train horn loud if not get set of really loud horns and connect them up to the alarm.

The best anti-theft idea is to simply keep your mouth shut concerning changes you have made. If not keep the vehicle in the garage or covered at night.

maybe a seperate brake lever on the floor that ties into the existing ebrake. like a secondary ebrake. So when they do lift it up they wont get far before the tires are squealing like no other and they cant figure out how to unlock them

Cut your wheels, and pull the e-brake that will make it harder to tow.

An alarm system with GPS tracking. This is the only way i've heard of to deal with the tow truck threat. But that is only good till they kill the battery power or get the car inside. Unfortunately if someone wants your car enough they are probably going to be able to take it. But being smart will make it harder for them.

I'd suggest getting a heavier chain now, one that can only be cut with an acetylene rig or some kind of forever with a grinder. You kinda challenged any could be thiefs.

Tow Truck thieves are the hardest to take care of.Towers only matter if your car is left out in the open at night.Else keep your wheels at full lock. And keep the car in gear when you leave it.Im most scared of Towers.

If you are concerned about [not at home] jacking, then get a quick release steering wheel.

Pullout gear lever, and leave the car in gear when you leave.

Ive also seen a turbo timer mod, which keeps the car in timer lock until you change the turbo timer settings, to voltage. < this was a custom mod someone did, ill try finding out how exactly he did it, but it was really genius. The turbo timer stops the car from starting. Until you scroll to voltage. then you can start the car.

P.S im not sure if he modded it himself or if his turbo timer is just broken. But it gets the job done brilliantly. I dont think any thief would think, let me change the turbo timer to voltage.

At least in the US the thieves seem to have some respect. Back home (Zambia). They cut the battery wire through the windscreen plastic. Then get inside. Once inside, they push start the car....no need for an ignition switch for that. Its funny because good Samaritans will gladly help said thief push start the car, because they assume hes just having car trouble.

There are GPS that you can look up online. Buy those because paying yearly fee is better than losing your 240.

Well boys, I should be able to come back to you all with some better and more descriptive ideas. But this is good, check it out. From what I been hearing from the geeks at work, you can just get a cheap GPS Phone with all the cheapest options available. You can hid the phone very well, as good as you can and have it hooked up to a charger some how, or way, what ever you choose. Now when a phone is on and not being use they usually can stay on a few days. So you can track your phone for up to some time. Now the other geek from work has traveled across the country with a non gps blackberry pearl. He had something set up so when he checks his phone, or e-mail, or PC at home or whatever, he was able to pull up a map of were his phone was. So was basically able to track WERE EVER IT WENT. We'll I have a blackberry pear 8120 with WiFi and no GPS. But with this pricey phone I have google maps installed and can locate my loacation with just cellular signals. Soooo, I know there is a way to at least be able to get our cars back. I can have beter details an other time. static/icons.html# Unfortunately Im pretty new here and not sure how to trake my treads and all. I hope to hear some more news on the subject.

The motorcycle guys must know this but on bikes they have the cross drilled brakes than they have this special lock that goes in btw one of the holes and locks in from what i remember to keep the bike from being moved.

Pretty clever idea if you go cross drilled imo along if it really works

We hooked my friends 4 horn train horns up to his alarm in the Volvo. We had so much fun messing with people telling them to open the doors when it was locked.

I've heard of putting a blinking red led light in the car to deter some people. I would really put the car somewhere hard for a tow truck to get to. I think I may keep my car on a really thick leash like vertbish.

I think a garage with an awesome alarm and surveilence would be the best thing.

If someone had a turbo timer, they'd have to wait till the engine cutoff before they hit the fuel switch.

So are there any creative minds that can figure out how you can make the fuel get cutoff once the turbo timer decides it's okay to turn off the engine?

Just get some alarm stickers for your windows. LOL!

No, in all seriuosness, it's a little pricey, but LoJack or some other form of GPS is the way to go.
