{The following is the lastest small business ownership article posted to "Southern, Black, and Imported". It's been revised to abide by the rules of NICO. To see the full article go to http://shadowdragonracing.blogspot.com}

I'm so tired of getting involved with these pissant marketing 'schemes.' I say scheme because at the end of it all is either a sum of money required that goes against the initial "Free" statement or, as in my last experience, you find out that no one has touched this thing in 3 years. That's right. I became an affiliate with a direct tv company, which is good, but the email marketing program they set me up with has not been touched, literally, since 2001. I can't stand it anymore. Advertising cost more than you'll ever see a return on, the marketing schemes are absolutely worthless, and word of mouth is non-existent.

To overcome this marketing nightmare I've fallen in, I've decided to start my own marketing campaign. It starts by organizing a small piece of webspace where people in my situation, people who want to succeed, people who want to see their business grow, can come together and work with each other on a personal level to create, perhaps, a line of successful small businesses and work-at-home ventures. It's not a place for advertising. It's a place where Mr. John Doe and can actually talk to Mrs. Mary Jones and trade info about their very similar businesses. So that John and Mary both benefit from it. They can each post their homepage and any contact info they like on the board so in the future when someone has a similar question...there it is! More importantly, this is a better way of recirculating small business money among small businesses. It's my belief that if this circle of entrepenuers is successful, we can live outside the confinement of lower and middle class society that we've become accustomed to and move into a much higher class. All by simply trading information and selling and buying from the people in the group. This idea is not original, I know, but it is a form of cooperativeness that is lacking in todays business community and is definitely needed in the small business sector.

If you are a small business owner or you run a WAH business and you want to take part in this you can join the SDR Group on Yahoo! groups. There is no money involved, just remember, this is not a free advertising opportunity. It is, however, an opportunity to better your business and perhaps gain new customers who want to see their businesses as successful as yours. You can go to http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/sdr_group/ or click on the Yahoo! Groups button on the side.

FYI: Marketing is the commercial processes involved in promoting and selling and distributing a product or service. It's not advertising as advertising is a tool of marketing. So essentially a business must market itself to succeed.

Cool! I got tired of arguing with my cousin. We were born two weeks apart so we've been going at it since 1976.
