I have the 2001 QX4 with 113k miles on it.
I went do oil change last week, while the guy open the oil cap, we saw some white stain on the cap, and can be wiped off by cloth.
He told me that might be the anti freeze go inside the engine.

how can i find out what he said is true or not?
if the the anti freeze really going inside the engine, how bad is it? any seal I need to change to the QX?
is it a big job? anyone had this experience also?

please give me some ideas..

Thanks for the infor, my oil cap just looked like that.
I was just wondering why the short trip daily will cause that issue?
I will keep checking the oil and anti freeze to find out real reason of it..

if it's really the head gasket broken, is it a big job to do?
I just did the research on ebay, they selling the headgasket kit. (tons seals).. which one do i really need to change for the anti freeze?

please let me know

Thanks

Well, from reading the linked thread, it looks like some water or condensation got in your crankcase and short trips does not heat up the oil enough to get rid of it, resulting in that nasty pus like substance. Take it for a lengthy drive on the highway (of course, watch your temp gauge to be sure you're really not leaking coolant!) and check your oil filler cap again, I'd say.

I wouldn't know how to go about replacing your head gasket.
