Has anyone used an aftermarket universal antenna to replace the factory unit on a J30? Crutchfield says that theirs will not work so I'm wary of any of them now.

I dont know about you, but my antenna has been broken for 3 years now and i still get awesome reception without it both with the stock cd player and with an aftermarket one.

I used one off ebay. I had to spice the wires and drill a hole in the mounting bracket to get it to fit. It works. Don't make the same mistake I did tho. Make sure you disconnect the battery before you start working.

Is the antenna actually broken or it can't go up and down but you can hear the motor?

I don't know if a product such as jig-a-loo is sold in the US

http://www.jigaloo.com/ca/e_products_jigaloo.php

I managed to get my antenna working again smoothly with this product. I had tried WD-40 and Liquid Wrench before, but my antenna only worked for a short time.

No disrespect but if you can't afford the $40 shipped OEM new antenna then you can't afford the J30. I was in your shoes once when I had a 1991 Q45. I tried to use the antenna from a 1997 Q45 and it didn't look good.

So get only the parts that fit the car!

Sorry Paul but the POWER ANTENNA is $231.00 at InfinitiParts.com. I don't want just the mast or a non power unit. I found a used one for $65. that I'm going to pick up tomorrow.

Actually I thought that I got the Jig-A-Loo stuff when what I really got was RZ-50 Window and Door dry lube but it still works great

Yeah bro they are taking you for a ride if they want $65 for it.

If I were you and they wouldn't negotiate I would remove the parts that you need from the assembly then ask them how much they wanted.
