I just purchased an Antennaworks power antenna to replace the stock motor / shaft assembly.

I installed it all, wired it up, and the radio won't come on now...also, antenna motor won't work.

I checked the two radio fuses (one in kick panel, one in engine bay.) They are fine.

I rewired the old antenna motor (which was working)...radio or antenna motor still won't come on.

No other visable strangeness is occuring...i.e. lights work, etc.

The bad part is that my new radio and speakers from Crutchfield gets here tomorrow...and I want to be able to play with it!

What possibly could this be?

(Incidently, the Antennaworks antenna has four wires...the motorola antenna wire, a black wire, a red wire, and a blue wire. I attached the red to red, the black to black, and the nissan stock green to the blue. I trust this is correct.)

Please help!

the power antenna is not going up because the radio is not coming on. the blue wire you attached to green is the power antenna lead. it only has 12v with the radio on, and if the antenna doesnt get 12v from that wire it will not come up. to check the antenna, splice the blue wire onto the red wire and see if it comes up.

as for the radio, is it factory? aftermarket? brand? pull out the radio and grab a voltmeter. check for 12v at all times on the orange/green wire and 12v with the key on on the blue wire.

Thanks for the reply.

The radio is the factory CD Clarion on a 1995 240sx SE.

If the blue wire is 12v when the raidio is on, what is the red wire?

Is there a way I can check to see if the antenna motor is working by running a different power source to it?

What would have caused the radio to crap out?

Here's new information.

I called Crutchfield. They indicated that the radio is run by fuse 18 in the fuse box and fuse 8 in the engine fuse box.

I have no idea which is fuse 18 in the fuse box...as they aren't numbered.

Another weird thing...I turned the lights on this morning driving to work, and the radio ilumination works.

Also, the dashboard clock is out.

Somehow, I think the clock and radio might be on the same fuse.

Is it possibly the one marked 12V on the kick panel fuse box?

if the clock and radio are out, then it definately is a fuse. you should be able to find fuse 18 on the fuse box cover diagram.

the red wire has 12v at all times.

i told you in the last post how to check your antenna motor. hook the blue power antenna lead coming from the antenna to the red wire and see if the antenna comes up.

I'm really sorry, but I must be a complete idiot...the cover from my stereo does not have fuse numbers.

If I count the first column as 1 through 13, then the second column as 14 - 23, then fuse 18 is hazard lamp. The hazard lights work fine.

To get to the bottom of this, let me just write out the fuse box diagram:

A/T CONT------------------ELECTRON IGNMIRROR-------------------METERWIPER--------------------TURN SIGNAL12V-----------------------TAIL LAMPAUDIO--------------------HAZARD LAMPBLOWER MOTOR---------ROOM LAMPBLOWER MOTOR---------STOP LAMPAIR COND---------------ELECTON BATTAIR BAG-----------------RR DEFOGENG CONT--------------RR DEFOGFUEL PUMP------------<BLANK>STARTER SIGNAL-----<BLANK>ABS CONT-------------<BLANK>

I have checked the "Audio" fuse and the "12V" fuse. Both test fine.

Does the stereo have an in-line fuse somewhere else other than the fuse box?
