Gents, I'm back.I was off for a while recovering from a back injury, and in the meantime my Pathy was parked. A week and half and only started to be moved a few times. Poor girl.

Well, now that we are both back and running again, I seem to have a minor problem. My antenna mast won't lower all the way. It keeps getting stuck on the last segment. So I always have 5 inches of antenna sticking up.Any suggestions? I have lubricated it already a few times and nothing.

I have a similar problem with my 99Q. The antenna will not go all the way up or down. I have lubricated it, but no help. I am considering replacing it with a fixed antenna, but I do not know how involved of a project that is or if that will improve my reception. I have noticed that some stations are not as clear as they once were.

I also have that on my 99Q. I dont use the antenna because I bought sirius. I looked into replacements a while back, but the cheapest one I found was universal and like $60US. So I figured its not worth the money. I think I'm gonna rip mine out.

Volp,I had Sirius but had real difficulty with reception. Not with satellite reception per se, but with the FM modulation from the receiver to my radio. I found a axillary connector for my wife's Odyssey, so not Sirius is all hers... I could not find one for my 99Q.

How do you get your Sirius signal to the radio?

I have an alpine deck so it just plugs in to one of the inputs.

I have the same problem on my 01 Qx...I've been looking into possibly replacing the antenna with one of those off road antennas that are rubberized? but I'm not sure how involved this procedure would be. would love some input on solutions for this issue.

i found a stupid little plastic clip i rapped some tape around the stem to thicken it up and just popped it in there.

if your actually trying to replace the antenna your going to have to go from under your passenger wheel well. IMO i thought this was too much work for the radio cause i hate it, and i love working on my truck any excuse will do.

I still didnt remove the cover in the wheel well but there is no way your doing anything under the hood

Some PF have a diversity antenna. My '01 SE does. There are TWO antennas. One is the regular mast, the other is silk screened onto the windshield. The radio is smart enough to pick the strongest signal. My mast is fixed, notretractable.

The '01 FSM shows that the antenna mast is replaceable from outside thetruck. You might try remove and replace the existing antenna that way to seeif that fixes it. It will also let you know if the plastic gear teeth at the bottomof the mast are messed up.

The antenna on my '87 'vette stopped going up all the way. I researched iton the net, and some wag had said: they hung the antenna from the factoryroof and built the whole car around it. HE WAS RIGHT. It took a LOT of hours toreplace it. Like 20. The '88s had an mast that was replaceable from outside,I installed an '88 mechanism.

The net is that if you replace the mast, it will probably be just a couple hours work.

Slickroger: note the above.

All: I think there are just 2-3 manufacturers of electric antennas. It wouldbe great to know who made them for Nissan when and for what models.
