Ok 1998 q45 I was trying to replace the antenna mast, and was following the directions that came with it, I bought it in e bay.was using a small screwdriver and small hammer to turn the collar, well it turned and turned and turned and nothing. Then the whole mast came out with the collar still attached to the mast, and the chrome plate that the mast rest on the body of the car also came off. I can not get the collar off, tried everything wont budge. any help on this...the car is my wifes and things aren't pretty around here right now

May have to bite the bullet and buy a new assembly, about $125.

for those that have done this before, what is the best way to remove the top 'nut?' i was thinking of cobbling together a fixture that i could rotate around the antenna, taking advantage of the 2 pinholes, but if there's an easier way...

I had real good luck with a small rubber strap wrench from Sears that came in a set with the big one that I used to tighten the crank pulley bolt.

If it's similar to the 1st gen Qs, lock-ring pliers work very well. I like the strap wrench idea--seems like there's no chance of scratching the nut.

I use a set of long needle nose plyers... just insert each tip into the holes and turn with the handle. Works great!

Thanks for posting the diagram. While the pic portrays a Y33 Q45, the cogs in the pic are facing the wrong way for this car. You would actually feed the antenna mast with the cogs facing the front of the car.
