I can't figure the search out for real!

Is there a pictorial writeup on how to use/connect the secondary window antenna?

(emphasis on pictorial lol)

Very good question. There really isn't a whole lot of info about this subject out there.

I did some researching and I did stumble upon this thread: http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=327168

The problem is Nissan might have changed something since all of the guys in that thread are talking about the AUS market Z32s.

My understanding is it is pretty easy, and something I'm going to do soon.

Most of our Z's have probably had the factory stereo replaced, and if so, then an adapter was needed. One that looks like this...

That adapter is right behind your head unit. So you will need to remove the bezel, and pull out your head unit. http://s95014253.onlinehome.us/63104/165554.html

Then if you want to delete the outside antenna, you just need to unplug the adapter where the two prong connection is and turn it 180 degrees. That should have it work off the window antenna.

I've heard reception with the window only antenna is pretty bad. Just FYI.

I'm planning on trying to use both antenna's (I've replaced my broken power antenna w/ a stubby antenna and it is pretty weak), so what I'm going to do is run some copper wire between the two male prongs and then plug it back in. I've seen some pics of that, but can't seem to find them now. But it is pretty self evident.

The antenna on the window is for your AM stations, like the traffic update stations used by the D.O.T, or talk radio stations. It cannot be used in place of the powered antenna.

A stubby powered antenna can be used if you want to get rid of the OEM antenna, but the thing to remember is that those have to be mounted on the highest point of the car to work very well (i.e. the roof).

At $2.87 + free shipping, I think I'll give this one a try. If it works I'll post pics and give a review.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

Understood, but the seller has a 99.1% PFB and with all the safeguards that are in place with ebay (heck, at $2.87 it don't even matter!) I figure I'll risk it.

Like I said, if it works, I'll let you guys know.

Yeah, I'll be interested in how it goes. Let us know...

And I have no idea how people can even ship stuff at $2.87 total, let alone the cost of what you are buying.

I bought my PCV valves of Ebay for like $5 for 2 plus free shipping... crazy....

The 120K kinda postponed anything else, including but not limited to the stereo upgrade. I'll be venturing into the stereo around July 15th or so. I'm also going to add a Y splitter for the car stereo antenna and going with two of the window mount antennas to try and beef up signal reception. (in all reality, this will just be to ensure I can listen to the Braves games without static or having to rely on internet radio that MLB demands a subscription to listen to games) all other music will stream Bluetooth from my phone or YouTube from phone as well.

Foos, post back when you figure out your antenna situation. I'm interested.

Will do, should be done here soon. I'm putting in the Pioneer double DIN touchscreen next Thursday the 3rd and will have the antennas all done at that time. I'm going with two of them and this "Y" adaptor:

Altogether the whole thing should be under $15 and should (in theory) give me great reception.
