The military is scraping the bottom of the barrel taking some mentally unfit people .
They should know better & not accept anyone especially from Wasila.
If there was a draft there would be rioting in the streets over these fvicking wars.

A few weeks ago I was posting in favor of a draft, but it's this kind of thing that makes me question that sentiment.

I'm no psychologist, but I think this might be more common if the soldiers in question felt some kind of injustice for being there - like it was against their will. Though sometimes one has to question the mental fitness of the kind of person who'd volunteer to go skipping through the Afghan poppy fields, I have to believe that an all-volunteer Army cuts down on the number of atrocities committed.

The fact that we don't see more incidents like this is testament to either the professionalism or the covertness of our soldiers; it's hard to know which way to feel about the world when you hear about things like this.

despite it all, i still think the military is mainly good. as with all sections of society, there are a number of people who dont fit the mold for the job they are supposed to do. currently, im treating a girl who at 19 has taken a liking to skinning feral cats in order to make her father love her. i just wonder really how different she is from this guy.

Isaac, you nailed it. There's plenty of good, morally-strong young men and women who are willing to accept the responsibility and bear the sacrifices of protecting our right to sit here and criticize. A draft would most certainly diminish the quality of our military - We've seen it in the not-so-distant past.
