I am looking to put 20" wheels on my 97q w/ 225/35/20 tires. My question is does anyone recommend 20 x 8.5 or 20 x 9 front/rear?

Thanks

a 245-35-20 is going to be a MCUH better tire choice. 225 is way too skinny...

Thanks for the reply. Will the 245 leave enough room to avoid any rubbing? Also, do you recommend this because of a smoother ride or something else?

Thx

it will give you a better ride, but MORE IMPORTANTLY it will give you the extra load capacity you need. People tend to forget that the Q weighs about 4000lbs (any year), and you cant be as frugal with tires!!!! The front tires on a Q45 go through hell and back over their lifetime compared to even a car that weighs 500lbs less!

Youll be able to get 245s without rubbing NO problem... Just be careful with your offsets!!

Are you wanting to run the same size all around, or are you wanting to run a staggered setup....??

i'm glad u asked. I'm wanting the same size all around. Don't want it sitting higher in back than front. I don't have any knowledge of how offsets work so any info would be appreciated. What I don't want is that look where the wheels look like they are sitting too far in under the fender.

thx

Do a lot of reading at Tire Rack and the tire manufacturer's web sites.

Try to stay near 20 lbs. for the wheel weight alone. Be sure the wheels are strong enough also. For real world roads and highway travel, there are better choices.

Don't confuse static appearances with dynamic performance.

Can you post the specs.....? would assume youd have them handy... We can just tell you how theyre gonna fit, and recommend based on that...

Just because you run a staggered size doesnt mean your back end is going to look higher.

The pdf i posted only shows 20x9 but they also have 20x8.5 supposedly. Don't know why that size is not included on the spec sheet.

No weight, no strength.

Be very afraid.

are you referring to any specific size or this particular wheel in general. or because the site doesn't list the weight.

Ok for the 8.5s they either offer a 20mm or 40mm offset.. Using the 20mm offset wheel all around should fit VERY nicely. No rub and will have a nice flush fit...

so you recommend 20x8.5 on front & back with 20mm offset on all?

thx

Those are REALLY cheapo wheels, I would consider something else if I were you. I bet you have big issues with balancing and eventually bend one of them.

Try to find a set of FX35/45 rims in 20" off someone, OEM are much better and to get OEM quality you will need to spend more like $700 per rim or better in 20".

You might have found the best bargain in the wheels but my bet is these are cheapo weapo rims.

Send 'em back. +40 is near OEM offset and will be sunken in about 2".

I have 19x8 +20 and 19x9.5 +20, it's flush with the fenders like Wes mentioned. I had staggared 18's about a year ago, and they were +40, I had to use bolt on wheel spacers to make them flush. And staggared offset doesn't make the back wheels sit higher, just wider

Cheap wheels suck. I rolled mine for 2 summers and they are trashed. Bent and shaking. I would rather be stock than dealing with that crap.

so I assume I need 20mm wheel spacers?

Screw that dude, get what you paid for. Send 'em back, spacers are fine, but you'll end up spending close to $200 for spacers. Just get what you ordered in the first place.
