2 years and ~15,000 miles later, my WCD.com 32/36 is completely unserviceable.
Internal vacuum and fuel leaks, still limped for a few more hundred miles until something jammed (choke slammed shut at speed, perhaps?) and it sucked a gasket through. Was whining like an elephant with a stubbed toe, sounded like a pulley seized, and the belt was screaming.
Thought I was being smart, saving ~$50.00 vs. the more expensive authentic distributor, but it ended up costing me another carburetor after 2 years (March, 2011.)
I know there's dozens of similar threads/stories, just wanted to add my anecdote to the pile.
Just FYI, after the fact, I compared the two carbs, and the new one has the Weber "W" stamped on the body of the carb (old one had a foil sticker,) and a white choke mechanism (old one was black.) There's a guide floating around which helps identify the fakes, but those are the two easiest things to look for.
All that said, I never had any serious PROBLEMS with the fake. It seemed to run alright for the first year or so (it all seemed to fall apart at once,) and i didn't find it tremendously difficult to dial in or anything. I suppose if your truck is a farm-vehicle, or a backup car i'll leave it up to your discretion whether the extra $50 is worth it to you.
