Another way to fix HUD?

I was wondering if the speed sensor would be another cause to my HUD not working? If there was no signal, would the HUD be shut off, or would it just read 0mph? Thanks for any help guys and/or girls!

Would read 0. mine was disconnected for a while and would just read 0.
