so i did ^ that test tonight while installing my N1duals.. And the tire in the air DID NOT spin.. as hard as i dare try while my car was on jack stands..
My car is a 1993 hatch with ABS, i thought that no-one without HICAS had vlsd? Did i do the test wrong? or have i given ABS'ers everywhere hope?
If you leave it in gear and raise only one wheel off the ground, it will not allow you to spin the wheel that is up regardless of if you have LSD or open diff. If you only lift one wheel, leave the car in neutral. If you lift both off the ground, then put the gar in gear(Park if you have an auto). Then spin one rear wheel. All you are going to test for is the amount of resistance. Putting the car in gear or lifting one wheel off causes your turning motion to have to go through the spider gears. An open diff will feel light and have little resistance. VLSD will be much harder to turn. I prefer to lift both wheels at it will feel more natural since it's not using the ring and pinion gear at all. Lifting only one off will also cause the ring and pinion gears to actuate and won't be as easy to estimate what it should feel like.
