The Ram AIR on the V really sucks. On my old 98 Altima I got decent air thru the vents while going 20 mph. I have to do about 70 to get decent air out of the V.

Small gripe but I figure if might be because of the cabin filter since my Altima did not have one.

Another thing is the NEW car smell is starting to annoy me a bit. Maybe that article about V being the most toxic has something to do with it.

Ya I totally agree but you must keep in mind that your car should be tuned. I ordered a Apexi Neo for my exhaust and intake. The car will run back on normal ratios. Plus I get a DYNO chart as well out of the install.

Wait I just realized you are talkin about the stock RAM... my mistake

I don't understand this. Are you talking about the amount of air that will normally flow thru the vents with the HVAC turned off?

EXACTLY. Airflow with the fan off is very weak. That's what I meant.

I don;t think the '98 Altima had a air filter. I found these air filters reduce the air flow. I think also, also as the aerodynamics improve, the ram air effect is reduced. My '03 Accord was even a little worse than my Versa.

I think the other reason is that there are fewer vents directly on top of the air intake. Most are tucked just under the hood where there is lkess positive pressure. I think this is done to prevent ice and snow from blocking hte air flow (a problem on older cars) It also reduces the amount of dust entering while the car is parked and the amount of moisture entering on moist foggy days.

That is what I have to do now with my truck. I also have rain guards and they help a great deal.

I thought that flow was there to keep the system cycling and fight mold? I would think if you wanted airflow you could just turn the hvac on ambient (no ac) just to get some flow from outside.

I got to third that. You do realize the fan's turned off. In my truck, once you turn the fan off, you get nothing. Just dead air. I don't mind getting little air at low speeds. I'd rather have very little ventilation at low speeds than too much at high. Plus if you're driving slow, crack a window. You've not driving that fast to experience wind noise.

I like what I like. You can open your window but it doesn't mean the whole world has to. I know what the solutions are for airflow (i.e. open a window) but this is a personal gripe i'm posting.

Well, if they only thing you don't like about the car is the airflow, I think you're doing well.

As for the smell? I got my car in Sept of '06 and my new car smell was gone in like a month.
