I noticed that there are a plethora of problems that are not exactly a one job fix. one thing breaks and causes another to "wear" (still good but doesn't work perfect) or stuff like that. i wish it was as easy as "oh i just need to change the battery!" lol ok enough with that

92 240 coupe w/93 engine. no idea how many miles had 3 different clusters.guessing about 200k - really high

so the no. 2 piston has some blowby but not to the extent of smoke.

one night i crank it up and it started smoking after about 5min. of idle. next day it cleared up, and never did it again. but since then it has had a power loss problem.

-loss of power like- (stock clutch)clutch depressed fully reving 2k 3 seconds to clutch out its at 1k

i still drive it every day, its just weak. but annoying

codes returned are 34 "knock sensor"

so i go to advance and buy one and replace it. still has the code. idk why. I checked the continuity between the ecm and connector like the fsm says. thats fine.

idk i'm kinda lost, and too busy to give a couple of days looking at it because it has to be driven.

if anyone needs pics of anything i can get them just say

Try disconnecting the battery negative cable for 5 minutes. This should clear the error codes in the ECU. This has cleared up many problems I've had after replacing engine sensors. If you still get the same errors I will post more detailed info... it's late and I dont feel like quoting from the FSM

Im pretty sure the knock sensor wont cause that big of an issue. It's job in life is to relay a "pre-ignition knock" signal to the ECM and the ECM will retard the ignition timing by a few degrees thus ignitiong the charge before it has a chance to pre-ignite. A few degrees is not enough to make the car run that slow. Sounds like either slipping clutch? Or really a sensor issue TPS, MAF, something. Have you checked the compression? Low compression will slow you down for sure.

i would think the sensor would have alot to do with the loss of power since like someone said before it retards the timing if the sensor is bad. an if the timing turned down, not sure so im askin, but doesnt that mean it will lean out the fuel too??
